I'm booked for induction on Thursday as baby I seems way too comfy and just after some reassurance from those that have been through it. I have it in my head hat induction is more likely to be a csection etc. is it possible to been induced and still have a natural birth?

My sister was induced and gave birth naturally 24 hours later

I was induced. It was a long process (induced 9am Tues with a pessary, later that night started the drip, baby born 9pm Weds) but it was a vaginal birth with no ventouse or forceps. No episiotomy. No tearing. I did have an epidural (which I hated) but apart from that no intervention.

Good luck on Thursday and think of all those squidgy newborn cuddles!

I was induced too.

Took a while to get going but then everything went smoothly, natural birth, no forceps etc

Good luck for Thursday, and you never know, baby could come before then!

I was induced. Didn't need a pessary as had already started to dilate. Waters broken then put on a drip a couple of hours later. Baby born without intervention eight hours after the drip went in. Very minor tears, just a couple of stitches. No epidural. Wasn't how I'd planned birth but ultimately a really positive experience. Good luck; in a few days you'll be snuggling your gorgeous new baby. Smile

I'm going to be the "bad" story here because my induction did end in a C section, but I just wanted to say that it was actually totally fine.

Very relaxed throughout but as I didn't progress past 3cm after a good long while the decision was made to go for section.

It was calm and cheery and DP was with me and I recovered well and was snuggling and feeding DD within the hour.

So even the less desired outcome may be just fine!

Best of luck and enjoy the gorgeous newborn squidgingSmile.

Induced with both DC. DC1 was induced with the drip labour was 5.5hours with no pain relief,no tears etc.
DC2 induced with pessary labour was 3.5 hours from start to finish again no pain relief. So very positive experiences both times. Good luck!

Best wishes for your induction today Smile

Induced with my second pregnancy. Waters broke, on drip...6 hours laters gave birth. Was much faster than my first labour, which was 3 days and did feel more intense, but gas and air did the job. I was pretty much stuck on the bed as constantly monitored, but overall it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I did have to go into theatre afterwards for manual placenta removal (grim); however, I had a long wait first time round, so think it's just my body and placentas not wanting to leave my body :-/

Induced at 37 weeks with DD. Mine took a while to get going as I obviously wasn't ready to give birth but had to (pre eclampsia), but once I was on the syntocin drip there was no stopping me - active labour was 2hr 45 minutes, pushing was 9 minutes - she was out in three pushes. I was able to stay up and active, gave birth sitting up and no epidural. It was a great birth :)

Hope it's going/has gone well for you and you'll be having squidgy cuddles in no time!

LoveLetters · 27/08/2015 19:54

Just don't let them do sweeps on you whilst in the induction process when you are in full swing. I found that extremely painful. However you might be fine. Each to their own

CalypsoLilt · 28/08/2015 08:25

How did you get on?!

Seriouslyffs · 28/08/2015 08:29

Hope you're busy with your lovely new baby! I was induced at 42 weeks 3 times Hmm
All natural births and quick- first pessary around 9 and babies by teatime!

brytte · 28/08/2015 08:31

I was induced with DD1. Took 2 pessaries, and 24 hours to go into active labour nut after that it was all fine and I had DD 5 hours later, on entonox.
