Hi there - just wondered if anyone knows how the C&W EPU works?

There's no link to its own page on the hospital website and the only phone number is the wider outpatients one. Can I just turn up?

I'm off to have my third private scan since 10 August on Wednesday and expecting it to finally confirm, sadly, that this pregnancy is non-viable. I'll be nearly ten weeks and have spent the last 3 weeks in a constant state of heightened awareness waiting for something grim to happen whilst also 'enjoying' all the pregnancy symptoms you'd expect. It's been shite and so I'm keen to move forward on Wednesday if the scan is definite.

I don't know how that one works but most EPU are referral either self or gp. I don't think you can just turn up as they normally run by appointment

Ok thanks - I can't seem to find a cot act for them to even try to make an appointment!

your gp/gp's receptionist should be able to give you their contact details if they do self-referral, or if they dont, get you a gp appointment so they can refer you. good luck

Or ring the switchboArd number for the district hospitals and ask to be put through to the maternity EPU
