Just to let anyone know who's planning to bottle feed the tommee tippee perfect prep machine is on offer in the asda baby event for £60.

I have 1 of these machines and let me assure you these are worth every single penny Smile

I'm going straight online to make a purchase Smile I hadn't heard of it when my 10 month old was newborn and felt I spent the first 12 weeks of his life next to a kettle. Im 20 weeks pregnant with ds2 and this is a must have!!! Thank you OP x

BicycleMadeForTwo · 22/08/2015 20:30

Iamthemusicman listed an offer the other day for the perfect prep with Amazon family. It's £60 but if you use the code BABYFMLY15 you get £15 off bringing it down to £45.

The machine is amazing. I love ours!

Luciferbox · 22/08/2015 20:32

I bought one in the last Asda sale. I agree, it's a wonderful machine.

scarednoob · 23/08/2015 09:24

I'm so naive, breast feeding class isn't for a week or so! Would one of these be useful if planning to breastfeed (if I can), either for getting bottles ready for pump'n'dump (poor OH!) or for follow on feeds after breast feeding? Sorry to hijack! Thanks!!

TravellingToad · 23/08/2015 09:25

No scarednoob only for formula.

TreeSparrow · 23/08/2015 09:32

I have the same question as scarednoob!

TreeSparrow · 23/08/2015 09:32

Ok answered.

scarednoob · 23/08/2015 14:03

Thanks!!

Lemonfizzypop · 23/08/2015 14:21

Why can't it be used for breastmilk bottles?

BeautifulBatman · 23/08/2015 14:24

lemon, it's a machine that heats water up to mix with formula, then adds more water to get it to the right temperature. Not sure what you're expecting it to do with breast milk?

SweepTheHalls · 23/08/2015 14:25

Because it will fill them with formula! It is not a steriliser!

ElphabaTheGreen · 23/08/2015 14:25

Lemon because it's for preparing bottles full of formula. You add powder, water, sterile bottles and the machine does the rest. For bottles of BM, you need sterile bottles, a breast pump and boobs.

ElphabaTheGreen · 23/08/2015 14:32

scarednoob 'Follow on feeds after breastfeeding'? Have you been sucked in by the Aptamil lies TV ads? Babies need breastmilk or first stage formula ONLY up until 12 months (with the addition of solid foods from six months). Follow on formula is a load of bollocks invented by formula companies to flout the advertising ban on first formulas (formulae?). They're allowed to advertise follow on formulas to get their brand out - that's all. It's not nutritionally necessary (or advisable).

thesmallbear · 23/08/2015 15:10

My baby is 7 weeks. I tried to breastfeed (failed miserably) and am now mainly formula feeding (with some expressed breast milk too).

At first I was making up formula feeds the old fashioned way, which seems like it takes forever when your baby is screaming for milk. Then I bought the Tommee Tippee machine and it is a godsend. It makes a bottle to the perfect temp in 2 mins. I wish I'd got mine this cheap, but still worth every penny. If you're going to formula feed snap it up Smile

Cheshirehello79 · 23/08/2015 16:41

By the way various stores have price match - I've bought mine from mother are today where it was £80 but did price match and got it for £60.:-)

BeautifulBatman · 23/08/2015 16:45

Got mine for £45 from amazon Grin

Lemonfizzypop · 23/08/2015 17:58

Oh right I thought it was a just a steriliser! Sorry I could've googled couldn't i!

Twirlypoos · 23/08/2015 18:15

Does it boil and cool the cold water that's added?

With formula, and a bit if trial and error we worked out the ratio of boiled water to cooled boiled water ( kept in the fridge)

It was pretty speedy as no cooling needed eg an 8oz bottle had three oz boiling water, 8 scoops of powder, shake to mix then 5 oz of cooled water added

NewBallsPlease00 · 23/08/2015 18:50

Also on JL

NoMontagues · 23/08/2015 21:30

twirly it's basically a machine that does what you describe.

You press it, it gives you a small amount of hot water, you add the powder and press again, it fills up with filtered water. Ta dah, bottle is ready to go and body temp.

Bejeena · 23/08/2015 22:07

Does it only work with toomee tipee bottles? Sounds fab

BeautifulBatman · 23/08/2015 22:21

No, other bottles are fine too

Cornberry · 23/08/2015 22:42

Excuse me if this is a silly question, but I've bought the Tommee Tippee sterilising set

www.mothercare.com/Tommee-Tippee-Closer-to-Nature-Essentials-Sterilisation-Set/410658,default,pd.html

Does this do the same job? I can't tell the difference!

Cheshirehello79 · 23/08/2015 22:51

Corn - the prep machine is for preparing your baby's milk ( formula) it's not a sterelizer though the bottles that comes with the sterelizer can be used on prep machine too. You might wasn't to google it and see if it's something that will be useful to you

Cornberry · 23/08/2015 22:54

Ah.. So I would need both then??
