Painting Moses basket stand

I have been given a second hand Moses basket and stand (new mattress arrives tomorrow and new lining arrived today).

The stand has seen better days but is perfectly usable. It's made of untreated wood. I was thinking about painting it to brighten it up a bit and bring it back to life.

Then I got worried about different paints! What do I need to look for in terms of finding a safe paint for baby? I don't imagine baby will ever actually touch the base part as it'll be in the basket, but I want to be safe.

I know it'll need a gloss paint, can I just buy dulux or whatever or do I need something specific for baby?

I think most paints are non toxic nowadays, unlike the lead based ones from years ago. The thing to be careful about is keeping the room ventilated when you're oainting. Or even better, paint of outside if the weather's good this weekend.
But to be super sure, pop into your local B&Q fir advice as they have paint specialists (in the larger stores) and I found them really helpful.

Thanks, I went to B&Q and was told the paints were fine as all non-toxic and as I wasn't painting anything that will be in direct contact with the baby (I'm painting the stand not the actual Moses basket) it shouldn't be a health hazard for the baby.

Sun's shining so about to start painting it now!

Thanks for your help Smile
