Anyone 38/39 weeks and getting impatient?

Just thought we could keep each other company whiling away the next couple of weeks (trying not to go mad by analysing every symptom!).

I am 38 + 3 with DD2, bad SPD/PGP, head is not engaged at all, although I have had lots of uncomfortable braxton hicks. Other than that no sign of this baby wanting to come out!

Me I'm 38 + 2 with Dc number 3. Also have bad SPD and head is not engaged. I went to the hospital today for a follow up growth scan and all the walking has left me in agony despite using crutches. They said the midwife can give me a sweep at 39 weeks.

I'm just a day shy of 38 weeks and starting to get pissed off with not being able to do much.

DS was early so half expecting this one to be, so don't want to go far from home. mine is engaged but wish it wasn't as just the last week walking feels like it's grinding its skull on my pelvis with every step - that or poking me in the bladder.

poor DS is having the most boring week yet of his school hols, just doing little trips near home!

Daffodilliesanddaisies I was on crutches with SPD in my last pregnancy but have so far managed to avoid them this time. I know how you feel though, the pain is horrendous and it effects everything you do. You are lucky to get a sweep at 39 weeks, they won't give me one until 40 weeks.

FlightofFancy Fingers crossed this one will be early too! I also get that horrible grinding pain which is why I was surprised & disappointed when the midwife said today the head is still free.

I was so tired today, I went for a lie down at 11.30am and woke up at 13.20!! That wasn't the plan at all, luckily DD is at nursery 3 days per week so I know she gets some fun time, as I am not much fun at the moment!

Swollen ankles, trying to walk to get things going but ankles just swell up
Dc3
Head not engaged, bump still quite high
Back is down my right side-has just moved from posterior
Bit of heartburn
Really thought it'd be over by now

I struggle to get through the day without a nap. I've had the grinding pain too and feeling like her head is going to fall out. The midwife said it's her engaging and then un engaging.

I'm 38 weeks today and getting very impatient, although, this is DC3 so it may be easier to not have baby until my two boys are back at nursery and school. The holidays are a bit hectic, trying to entertain them each day is so hard when the baby is sitting so low and making me feel so uncomfortable.
I am excited to meet this little one but please tel me I'm not the only one starting to get nervous about the birth (pain) - I don't think watching One Born has helped me with this! Haha!!
I don't have too much to moan about, babies head is engaged but midwife said it will probably keep bobbing in and out. Still not decided on a name, and have to keep putting my feet up to help with swelling :)

Me toooo.....im 39+2 with dc2....my back is killing me so I'm struggling to sleep and im so so tired and sore every morning. My lg is 2 but thankfully dh is home to help. He has taken her to his parents today, so I'm having a chill out!Get out baby!!Lol.

To add injury to insult (or something) I've now got piles again. couldn't face trying to get a Dr appointment today so hoping that off the shelf stuff will sort them. I'm not going to miss not being 'allowed' any medication that actually works.

must admit I'm torn between wanting this over with and wanting DC2 to hang on until school is back as it'll make childcare easier! also would be good to be oldest in year rather than youngest, but then that's another year of nursery fees [skint emoticon].

It's nice to know others feel the same (iyswim) - I had visions of everyone else bounding around with last minute energy whilst I veg out on the sofa wondering what to watch next! I went to homebase this morning and now feel like I need a nap!
I have also got horrible piles, haven't been to the docs as it's so difficult with the SPD, and knowing they will probably get worse during the birth I will try and sort them afterwards - nothing off the shelf has helped so far!

fixuplooksharp I know what you mean, this is my second and I am so much more nervous about the birth than I was last last time. I thought I was going into labour a few nights ago and I was so anxious about it, I think partly because we have to get someone to come and look after DD1, I keep worrying will they get here on time and will I get to hospital in time etc.

waitaminutenow Nice that you have DH at home to help. I woke up every 2 hours last night, everything hurts!

FlightofFancy Yes initially I thought I would prefer her to be the oldest so didn't mind her being a bit late but at this point I will take take the year's saving in nursery fees!

I had the exact same thoughts about youngest/oldest in year and nursery fees!
And I too have piles, super glamorous!! I have tried over the counter stuff to save the utter humiliation of going to the doctors, but sadly it hasn't really worked at all. I think I'll wait until after the birth, as they are bound to get worse.
yummy we live about 25 mins from hospital and I am wondering if someone will get here in time or if I should just scoop the children up (if in middle of night) and take them to my mums as it's sort of on route. Either way it'll be total chaos I'm sure. I was happily naive about birth the first time around around, sadly not this time :(

Yummymango you are definitely not alone (no bounding with energy here...lol)im joining in on the piles front....hehe. but my aunt who's a midwife suggested just trying to sooth rather than get rid of them as they will return during birth most probably. I'm v lucky hubby is home. He works away so got back last week after over a month away! I was counting the minutes until he walked in the door.....

Oh yes I have piles too, I'm ignoring them until afterwards.

Both of my older dc were born by now so I really thought this one would be too.

Spd is really bad today can hardly walk and Dp has gone to work with my crutches in the car.

My DP is off now as we'd expected baby to be here by now. So that's good that's he's doing all the fetching/cooking/dealing with DCs stuff.

I've tried to walk as much as I can today and it does seen to move the head lower but then it pops up again when I put my feet up cos they're swollen!

Getting hip pain when in driving and in bed- which means in not getting as much sleep as I need.

I'm drinking lots of milk to keep my stomach acid at bay but does anyone else notice this irritates their bladder more than juice?

I've also started on the raspberry leaf tea and am trying to remember to rub in the almond oil- but it's so messy!

Please someone tell me if you find a way of getting rid of the dreaded piles!

OOh daffodils, you could potentially have it at any time then! My first was a few days over so not expecting it to happen early really, although it would be nice.

lightbulb what are you using almond oil for?? Also, I have been using ranitidine for the acid and swigging gaviscon since the first trimester. Milk helps too sometimes but it does make me need lots of poos which is not good when you have piles!

It's so nice not being at work though, I had a short nap this afternoon and then got up and made a banana cake :)

Well, we managed a good walk today with friends, though feeling the effects now with a few aches and pains. On the plus side, gentle walking stops me getting swollen feet.

agree With everyone that worrying about who's looking after DS is bothering me more than labour. I'm a real organiser and it worries me not to have an exact plan for everything. We've got various family, friends and neighbours lined up, depending on when in day or night it's needed. What's bothering me most is getting the balance between FIL (who is our main person) coming over in enough time, but not having him about while I'm in labour if I'm at home for a while! Last time I did the comedy waters breaking everywhere and then a quick labour, so I'm a bit twitchy!

Really feel for those of you with SPD - must be agony. It's bad enough trying to find comfortable ways to sit with aches and not sitting on piles!

I'm now beyond the stage I was pregnant last time.

There are bits of baby poking out of me now!

Had dull back ache all day yesterday which I thought might be an early sign but nothing at all overnight.

It's a full moon on Friday night so now I'm thinking maybe it will be then.

I also worried about the balance between having someone here in time, and not having anyone here whilst I am in labour. I remember being in so much pain last time that if anyone else was here it would really do my head in and I would probably shout at them if they said the wrong thing!!

I spent 7 hours in the delivery unit yesterday as baby wasn't moving much for a couple of days. They could see I was having 'contractions' but checked my cervix and it's high and closed so not ready at all - which I was surprised about as I have been getting back and front period type pains for a while now. Baby seems to be fine though and decided to have a party in there whilst I was at the hospital (of course). They were all so lovely though and didn't make me feel like I shouldn't have gone in - they even brought me a cup of tea and offered me some food as I had been there so long! They want me to go back for another trace and a scan as they are now talking about induction if baby isn't moving normally. Not exactly what I wanted to be doing on the hottest day of the year - but at least I know baby is ok.

Fingers crossed for Friday night then Lightbulb!!!

I'm 40+1 today too. Sooo impatient now. No signs that baby is imminent at all :( spent most of the day in bed sulking.

Cornberry.....I hear ya....is this your first? It's my second but my dd was a week late so I'm kind of expecting it again. It's annoying though isn't it.

My mum is arriving tomorrow so I think subconsciously I'm waiting for her....lol..

Yes, this is my first. So frustrating! For some reason I thought baby would come early - obviously just wishful thinking! My mum is round here every day! Getting more uncomfortable by the day now so can't really do anything and getting very fed up... I don't think believe that any of the techniques work but I might have to start trying some soon...

I'm still here too sighs. Have had a couple of small twinges but nothing to suggest it's on its way. To be honest I'd really rather wait until next week now though and get in the new school year! My parents are around this weekend but not sure how much help they'd be if it all kicks off.

I'm 40+4. It's a bit of wait, going to ask for a sweep this week coming though to get things moving along (as much as I hate them!). Fed up now. No signs, had some BHs but nothing that has been persistent...

Hi all, sorry for the quietness, I've been busy having a baby :) My little girl was born Friday night at 39+4 after a shockingly quick labour weighing 7lb 5oz and she is adorable!
