Can you explain the feeling of baby kicks?

SWFARMER · 18/08/2015 21:25

missmartin's description is spot on. Little flicks is wgat I fekt and sometimes the weird sensation you get when you quickly go over a steep hill in a car.
I'm now 29 weeks and they feel like proper solid doofs now and I can see my tummy ripple and move as the baby squirms.

sharonthewaspandthewineywall · 18/08/2015 21:26

To me it feels like twitching/popping

LowlLowl · 18/08/2015 21:34

Earthy feeling is like a ball rolling on the inside of you from time to time. Later on it's full-on thumps on the diaphragm, stamps on the bladder and kick-boxing on the inside of the belly button. With the occasional elbow poking your tummy out into odd shapes. When my DS turned from breech to head down at 36 weeks I thought I was being disembowelled.

But it's all lovely Grin

LowlLowl · 18/08/2015 21:34

Early, not earthy!

TreeSparrow · 18/08/2015 22:47

Twitches

newbian · 19/08/2015 06:46

To me feels exactly like how it sounds - someone inside of you pushing/kicking/punching. I never got flutters or anything like that. Just from 20 or so weeks clear movements. You can't mistake it for anything else!

BexusSugarush · 19/08/2015 08:42

I had light flutters at around 19 weeks, maybe one or two and then nothing for a few days. Like a few little tickles on the inside of your stomach. However, at almost 21 weeks I have started feeling more solid thumps, literally as if something is nudging you from the inside; it's quite a feeling. I also completely agree with the feeling of going over a steep hill.

lauraa4 · 19/08/2015 09:22

As others have said light flutters and twitches early on. In later pregnancy they feel more like jabs and my belly often moves up and down like he's shuffling around in there.

Doublebubblebubble · 19/08/2015 21:25

In early pregnancy exactly as others have said - really lovely and light and wispy. I am currently 33 weeks and have been getting booted for the past few weeks (he seems to love kicking behind my bellybutton). The do come in a fairly regular pattern (my unborn son kicks for food lol) though and it is still lovely x

Cheshirehello79 · 22/08/2015 18:41

At 25+2 it more like twitching and something a nudge . The twitching tends to be a couple of twitches same area and then stops. I feel movement everyday now and I've been told by me to stroke the area if it twitches and the other day I did and felt I fact touched my belly and the twitching area bulge not sure what it was by defo baby and it was the most amazing thing. Was like having a conversation with an alien a nd them responding back

GoooRooo · 22/08/2015 18:43

At the start just lovely little butterflies.

Now 35 weeks and get big uncomfortable thuds from the inside. When the baby turns it feels like when you go over a hill in a car a bit too fast and lose your stomach.

Junosmum · 22/08/2015 18:49

I'd described it as someone lightly flicking me from the inside, or as though pushing on a trampoline. Very weird!

chopsface · 22/08/2015 21:27

I never had the butterflies stage either! Just straight to a knocking sensation at 19 weeks. I'm now nearly 24 weeks and getting proper thumps and doofs. It's the strangest feeling ever but so reassuring that your baby is fine :-)

cth1982 · 24/08/2015 12:27

the best way to describe it for me is like somebody hitting a hollow drum but inside you (if that makes sense!) I had a odd flutter/teeny kick/punch at around 17ish weeks but now at 22 weeks baby is very active and kicking about - they are still not very hard but did have one the other day that took my breath away a bit!
