Basically the title says it all..

I'm 10 weeks pregnant..I went to the doctors about the brown blood/discharge (had it for 5 days now) & they've booked me in for a scan over the weekend.. They weren't too bothered.. but the last couple of days I've had a sort of stitch pain in my side, it's not severe.. its not a pain that affects movement etc.. just a bit niggly . I guess I have to wait until Monday to see what's going on, but just wondered if anyone had any experience? Good or bad. I just want to be prepared for whatever. :(

Also, for a scan at the epu - is it internal? :|

Hi OP. Just wanted to lend a hand to hold. I needed an early scan at 7 weeks and it wasn't internal, so I'm guessing yours won't be either. Try not to worry (easier said than done, I know!)

sjd114 · 15/08/2015 22:45

SlipperyJack ill take that hand to hold. I just really am fearing the worst, my symptoms (pregnancy symptoms ) are gone too. So I'm prepared. Although I am really hoping all is good. :(

I had similar back in March. Turned out fine but it was an internal at 7 weeks for me! Sorry! Really hope all goes well for you x x

FATEdestiny · 15/08/2015 22:50

It probably will be an internal scan.

I can give you both good and bad experience.

I had on-and-off brown discharge from about 10 weeks pregnant, no pain though. I buried my head in the sand and hoped it would go away and not mean anything. At the routine 12 weeks scan we discovered baby stopped growing at around 5 weeks, but my body held on to the pregnancy (called a missed miscarriage). I finally miscarried at around 13.5 weeks.

I subsequently became pregnant again. Anxiety levels significantly raised, as you can imagine. Developed acute stitch pain in my side and panicked. Pain started from around 5 weeks and was able to get an early scan a week later. Pain was very real, hurt a lot in a stabbing way. Early scan showed a reputed cyst on my ovary - probably the follicle which lead to the current pregnancy. Baby was fine (is now 11 months old) and the ovarian cyst nothing to worry about, it healed by itself.

Hi, I had a miscarriage followed by a successful (twin) pregnancy. Miscarriage was at 10 weeks, pink blood. Had brown blood at ten weeks with the twins, freaked out but all fine.

It's tough, really hope it works out for you x

sjd114 · 15/08/2015 22:52

Thank you so much for your fast response ladies. Means a lot.

I will just be taking it easy until Monday :(

I'm afraid that the reason for my scan was brownish discharge - turned out to be an anembryonic pregnancy, where the embryo never develops at all (just a yolk sac). However, I got pregnant within 2 months after surgical management; imagine my consternation when I got the same discharge again, for over 2 weeks. The result of that pregnancy is now 3 years old and driving me round the bend with her threenager stroppiness Grin.

So sorry you're going through this op. It's fucking shit. I've had two experiences of brown discharge. One ended in my lovely (now 4yo) DS. The other one turned into red blood within a day and was a miscarriage at seven weeks.

The waiting for a scan is awful. The fact that you don't have red blood or severe cramping is a good sign, and the stitch thing could be ligaments stretching.

I have everything crossed for you and here for handholding Flowers

It is, so so shit. Feeling massively deflated, just want to hide in bed all day. But tomorrow is the day, my appointment is at 9:50am. So won't have to wait ALL day at least .

I haven't had any red blood yet touch wood this is what I'm hoping, but I just honestly don't feel very positive. :(

Thank you - so much. I will post on this thread the outcome tomorrow. Confused

The waiting is horrible, isn't it. I was a Monday morning scan too. Hang in there - you'll be in my thoughts tomorrow.

maybebabybee · 16/08/2015 22:46

Just want to say fingers crossed for you OP. Unfortunately my brown blood story wasn't a happy one - I miscarried at 6 weeks. However, I got pregnant again almost immediately and am now 10 weeks. All well so far touch wood.

I hope it all goes well for you tomorrow Flowers

Thinking of you today OP. Wishing you all the best. Please let us know how you get on.

(To second those who have shared their happy stories, after my miscarriage in January I'm now 17 weeks pregnant. So if your story doesn't work out well this time, I promise you there is light at the end of the tunnel) Flowers

CheesyWater · 17/08/2015 08:26

Oh and don't worry at all about internal scans. They are not undignified or uncomfortable at all. You hardly even feel it and will be covered up. I speak from experience - I've had seven Hmm

sjd114 · 17/08/2015 12:16

Hi ladies.

Not good news I'm afraid. I miss carried.

So sorry Flowers There is wonderful support on the miscarriage boards here.

SlipperyJack · 17/08/2015 13:59

So sorry to hear that sjd. I second the miscarriage boards suggestion. Gentle hugs to you.

Hi ladies. another update I was told I had miscarried on Monday - but was sent back the the epu for more blood tests to check my hormal levels are dropping; although today I went in and they had said they hadn't dropped so needed to scan.. (this broke my heart) but they can see the sac!! & it's grown.. a lot. As I went in before thinking I was 10 weeks.. They have written on the paperwork I am 6 weeks?! Also, they have told me I have a 50/50 chance. And to go back next Friday for another scan... but I'm obviously not getting my hopes up, as I've been told it's a miscarriage , but today was different. . I'm confused.. my head is all a wobble.. any any any anyyyy advice is welcoming?!

Hmm, not sure what's going on there then! My hormone levels dropped like a stone between the bleeding starting and getting the scan, so I knew I was miscarrying before the scan IYSWIM (needed the scan as I opted for surgical management rather than waiting for that bitch Mother Nature to do her stuff). Can they see a heartbeat at all? I guess 6 weeks is too early for that, if that's what they think the dates are. When do you get a follow-up?

SlipperyJack · 19/08/2015 17:53

Ah sorry, I see it's a week Friday. Guess you'll just have to wait it out (grim, I know!)

sepa · 19/08/2015 18:51

I really hope it turns out well for you! Flowers

sjd114 · 19/08/2015 20:08
