38weeks reduced movement again sweep 3 days ago

Hello mnetters again, i only posted last week so feel a tad paranoid first time mum.....im 38weeks3days pregnant, I've been to the mau five times now with reduced movements from 25 weeks and i also had a overnight hospital stay at 34 weeks with irritable uterus. I was only in the mau a week ago with reduced movements....had a scan everything fine. On monday I had a sweep, 2cm dilated, but nothing has come of that (heavy brown discharge for two days, BH still irregular) but again today i haven't felt him move much (very light sensations this morning and last night) Will mau be annoyed if i phone again? I feel like a nuisance as its always ok and hes just been sleeping I don't want them thinking i'm a pain in the ass!

Ring if worried, so what if they think you are a pita Grin

In your situation I would want to be checked out again anyway, the heavy brown discharge needs checking i would have thought.

MAU annoyed against something happening with your baby? It's hard I know as we are hard wired not to be a nuisance but you are worrying Nd that is fine and you need your baby checked.

A cow of a midwife sent me home and was awful to me when I was crying as my baby hadn't moved, all because she found the heart beat straight away. The next day my baby nearly died, he'd been in trouble and they had missed it.

Please get yourself checked and I hope all is okay.

Don't care what they think. They are irrelevant. This is your baby and your life. Nothing beats that. Good luck.

Reduced movement at this stage is very normal. However, this is your baby and there is no such thing as being a nuisance. If reassurance is what it amounts to, then brilliant. Make the call. I would.

I second the heavy brown discharge concern. That's a bit unusual but it could be a result of the sweep. The cervix is super sensitive. I bled brown blood start to finish with my second...lots of transvaginal scans and sweeps in the end too...so my hunch is that it has to do with the sweep. But do ring. Who cares! They won't remember you once baby is born. I mean that in a reassuring way!

Thanks ladies, i feel like such a nuisance over cautious mother (had late term mc last year so i do panic easily!!) ill give them a call and try not to worry about being a pain! :) (i think the being a pain in the ass stems from last pregnancy i was bleeding heavily instead of phoning mau i phoned my gp who told me to calm down that a bit of bleeding is to be expected....later as the pain got worse hubby drove me to hospital where it was confirmed that babys heartbeat had stopped awful i think thats why i worry!)

Reduced movements is normal? What a dangerous comment to make.

I'm sorry you've had a late miscarriage, OP, and that is more reason to be checked every time. With dc2 I was scanned a lot towards the end as dc1 nearly died and they didn't know why so they were being really careful with dc2. Please go and get checked and I would be interested to hear from a midwife if reduced movements are normal. Hmm

the Count the Kicks website explains that reduced movements are not normal. well worth checking out the advice on the site.

findtheoldme is right - reduced movements are absolutely and unequivocally *NOT' normal!! This "baby's run out of room" myth is incredibly dangerous! Babies can do backflips during labour! Get yourself checked out op. Xxgood luck xx

Call them- that is what they are there for. To reassure yourself first have you tried a cold sugary drink and lying still to see if it causes movement- I am sure you have. They said to me they would always rather see loads of people where things turn out fine if it means they catch the one where there is trouble. It will put your mind at ease.

OP hope you made the call, you've been seen to and everything is ok! These babies certainly like to test your nerves the last few weeks!

Reduced movement towards the end of pregnancy NOT normal. That is an outdated belief. Any changes from your baby's normal pattern of movement should be checked.

I went was in and out of assessment unit for the last 4 weeks of my pregnancy for monitoring and scans, not once was I made to feel like a pita. Everyone I know has been seen to asap with the slightest mention of change in movement. No such thing as over cautious when it comes to pregnancy.

If you get Any reduction or change in baby's movements you should call To get an assessment. It's especially important if you are having recurrant episodes. In our area if you have 2 or more episodes you should have a scan to check the placenta is still working well. Babies should move as much as normal right up until they are born, it's a myth that they slow down because they run out of room. And the midwifed would much rather see you twice a day than miss something! X

I was exactly the same as you in the end I was being monitored every day until they could fit me in for induction. Baby was always fine he was just sleeping. Don't assume your baby is sleeping if your having another episode of reduced movement always get it checked out. They'd much rather you go in to be checked and everything be ok than to think your bothering them and something awful happen.

My baby is as lazy outside as he was inside so hopefully your baby will be the same

To clarify, any changes also means more in quantity or intensity as well as less movements. My 14 year old just grinned at me as he walked by and it makes my blood go cold that a midwife sent me/him home and he could have died if not for pure luck.

Always always always check. Don't care more about midwives thinking you are fussing than you do your own child.

Any reduced movement get it checked, even if it's a daily occurrence.

At 37+6 I noticed reduced movement with my dd. I ignored it as I'd been for a sweep the day before and been monitored, plus was back in for another sweep the next day. (The didn't want me to go f/t due to growth issues so the consultant ordered 3 sweeps 48 hours apart before booking for section)

I returned the following day for another sweep, they hooked me up for the standard half hour monitoring and the trainee thought she had picked up my h/b not babies. Consultant was struggling so I went in for a scan. It was babies and dropping below 70, I had a crash section within 20 minutes.

If I hadn't had that appointment booked I wouldn't have a baby. I can't 100% say that I'd have gone and had a check up either as I hate bothering people.

I'm not trying to frighten you but since that happened I really feel the need to push just how important regular and normal movements are.

Given what happened last time I think it is completely understandable that you will be anxious - all the midwives and drs should be sensitive to that and actually be monitoring you closely anyway.
