Fast heartbeat

I'm 17 weeks pregnant, last weekend I had some bleeding so on Monday as I couldn't see the midwife I was booked in with gp.
Lovely gp, she did an internal and all looked ok.
She then had a listen to baby, and the heart rate was over 200!
She did phone the hospital (not about the heart rate but about the bleeding) to try and get me a scan but they have refused as the gp said she heard a fetal heartbeat.
Over 200 sounds a tad fast to me though do you think?

I am surprised your GP did an internal and listened in! Normally they panic and send straight to epau

Yep foetal heartbeats are ridiculously fast. 200 is normal i think but sounds like a drumbeat, and that stays the case for newborns, and their breathing, they sound like they've run a race.
But the bleeding at 16 weeks, no. Make some noise, get seen.

This is baby number 6 and none of my babys have ever been that fast, that is what is worrying me.
If I was one more week further along then labour and delivery would see me, epu wouldn't because as I said the gp got a heartbeat.
It's hard when your over 12 weeks, but under 18 as no one wants to know.

I'd shout a bit louder if I were you. When I was 16+5 the midwife (on the phone) advised me to go to A&E for bleeding. The doctor checked internally, found heartbeat and still booked me in for a scan so they could check where the bleed had come from. All was well (my placenta had moved off my cervix - probably caused it) but I'm so pleased they checked.
Perhaps call the midwife if you're worried about the heartbeat? And ask for a scan.

I wouldn't fault the gp for trying to get me a scan as she really did try.
Epu wasn't having any of it, the gp said it could of been because of placenta.
I haven't got my next scan until 21 weeks either so seems a while a way.
I'm going to phone my midwife up today and see what she says..

Hi lammad

Yeah, I think you're better off speaking to your midwife.

Hopefully, all will be fine Smile
