I've been trying to become pregnant for months

Hi all,

I've been trying to get pregnant for months and it seems like it's impossible.. I use to think it would be so easy but now I've realised it really isn't as easy as it sounds, it's getting me really upset. How long on average did it take all yous to fall pregnant first time?

I had the implant in when I.first got married but only for a month or two can that of messed things up a little?

Sorry for all this but I'm just getting really upset,

I'm 23 weeks now and had 4 miscarriages before 6 weeks before this and it's taking me nearly 3 years to fall pregnant with this one alot of people take 12 months plus and some take a very long time x

Hi it took me 3 years with my first child - currently pregnant with number 2 and it happened by accident. It's an anxious time - I remember it being very worrying and upsetting. I hope you have good news soon.

It's so hard. When you are ttc, the world seems out to get you and pregnancies seemed to get announced right left and centre! It took 9 months first time and 2.5 years this time, having been diagnosed with PCOS. There really is no reason to panic though, nature works very much to its own timescale. Hope its not too much longer for you x

Took us about 3.5 yrs altogether if you include the more relaxed 'just not using contraception' and the temping/using OPKs etc
We've been trying for 18 months for our 2nd with no luck so far but I can't really summon the energy to chart temps etc again.
It can be tough TTC and it doesn't seem 'fair' that others get BFP their first month. It made me a crazy lady. I was consumed by my desire to have a baby and cried if other got pregnant (not in front of them etc) but seeing our GP really helped. We waiting 2 yrs but I think you can go after 1yr of trying.

9 months for DS1 6 months for DS2 and 27 months for this bump Grin. Its a tough ride TTC.

I fell pregnant quite quickly initially but miscarried. That messed up my cycles & it took us another year to conceive again. I'm now 21 weeks. Acupuncture really helped me though - we got pregnant after 5 sessions of it after trying for so long.

Stay positive. I know it's hard though - there were months when I thought of nothing else & the disappointment when AF arrives month after month is crushing.

Took us 39 months, ( 3.3 years ) that pregnancy ended at 24 weeks, fell pregnant 10 weeks later but miscarried & fell pregnant 6 weeks after that but miscarried again.

Took 6 months then to fall pregnant with my daughter. Wasnt until i was pregnant with my daughter n had an i ternal scan n they found i had PCOS

Three years (and four rounds of IVF). Long term ttc is miserable.

84% gets pregnant in one year and 92% within two. So it could take a while even if you have no problems at all.

The NHS page I linked also tells you when you should seek help. I think it's one year of actively trying.

Be sure you are actually having regular sex though. Something like every 2-3 days. It gets to be like a chore after a while. This is experience talking as it took nearly 2 years for DD2.

Took me 5 years. No reason for it - unexplained infertility. Fell pregnant naturally. Now have a 3.5 year old son.

18 months later fell pregnant again and miscarried.

8 months after that fell pregnant again and currently 33 weeks.

I've always fallen pregnant very quickly but I've had 3 miscarriages

Have you tired clear blue dual hormone ovulation tests? They are expensive but I've always found they work. I also had acupuncture this time round - I'm 15 weeks

Took us 2 years, dh has low sperm count and morphology though. We were lucky enough to conceive naturally and I thank the tablets he took, Wellman conception. Deffo recommend to have a look at them they help improve sperm.
We were told we needed ivf, now 25 weeks pg!

3 years for our first and it took 2 rounds of ivf after 1 iui and copious tests etc. Another 2 years later and after our 4th ivf, we are currently 24 weeks with Baby No. 2.
If you're trying a few months, I don't mean to be harsh, but please try not to stress - it's not really that long in the whole big scheme of things. If you're really worried though, go to your GP and get some tests done. Good luck!

3 months with my first/current pregnancy.. match -may 2015 but i did stop the pill in october 2012 to cleanse me of medication and used condoms so i didn't have any contraceptive in me atall, so maybe that's why it happened quite quick?..

Hi,

It took me 2 years. The first year was mostly jsing, the second year was more concerted and the last 6 months I used the clearblue fertility monitor. I would say that's what actually worked.

We had the letter from assisted conception arrive on the Thursday and I had a positive test on the Monday.

Being completely honest with myself, although my diet wasn't bad and I exercised regularly, but DH and I had a fantastic social life which involved going out for drinks at least one night per week straight from work (never out past 10) and then drinking at home 2 or 3 nights per week. He is certain that if we were both t-total things would have happened more quickly. I reluctantly agree... Confused

Oh! And stress management was a major factor too - I was using my wee machine but also given up and assumed I couldn't get pregnant.

I am now 30 weeks - yay!!! Grin I can't wait to be a mum!

I was lucky and got pregnant relatively quickly both times but contraceptives definitely interfere. Currently 38+5 with baby number 2 but when I came off the pill I didn't have a period for 18 weeks. I felt so ill, sick, tired, really run down. Doc said it was just hormones and contraceptives can really mess you up. After that I got pregnant second cycle but just goes to show what they do to your system. I know plenty of people who take a year or so with no health concerns. Try to relax and just have lots of sex!

Took 11 months but first 5 of those I wasn't ovulating due to 12 years on the pill so took a while for my body to sort itself out. Got pg on the 3rd month of temp charting
