Omg tmi but hemmorhoid hell

Seriously this is bad and it's really getting me down! It hurts to sit down now :-( I'm using anusol cream and it's barely touching it. How is everyone else coping with this?!

Get thee to the doctors for the serious stuff suppositories that deliver where needed are much better

You have my sympathy, after ds I had the worst case. The only thing that helped was:
Gp for a prescription for a much stronger cream etc
Cypress oil and lavender oil, on a cotton pad, soaked in cold water or witch hazel (from boots), kept in the fridge, then applied at every opportunity
Ibuprofen
A supplement called rating can apparently help reduce and stop them coming back.

No idea what actually helped but I was in agony for about a week, then it gradually got better, all gone now. Oh, and it helped to stay, erm, regular..so lots of water and roughage!!

Thank you guys! How does a suppository work? If a gp goes near me right now I will yelp! Even sitting is painful! Will he ram something up there?

No you get a prescription for a course of them, you pop them In yourself. I had scheriproct ointment and suppositories. The cream (or as pp suggested above, witch hazel) applied first should make it bareable to then use the other. And be ready when you go in to labour to tell the midwives you might need something post delivery for them - after dc2 I was in more pain from them than anywhere else!!! (I still went onto have dc3 though so not all bad )

And the gp will take your word for it you have them!

Thanks daisy! You've made me feel loads better. I have to say I'm not having too bad a pregnancy if this is the worst thing that's happened to me but its soooo painful!

That was me last week ladypug. So painful I couldn't sleep. Luckily they've gone down a lot and as you say, if that's the worst thing that happens during pregnancy then we're not doing too badly. Will remember the witch hazel and ibuprofen for next time, and to let the midwives know. Also if you get a prescription for a topical medicine, go for the ointment rather than the cream as it stays put longer and is more effective, IMHO.

Total sympathy. I had several creams including Scheriproct. In the end they had "thrombosed" so I had to get the clots removed in A&E. Horrific. I only had gas and air.
But they shrivelled up after and I've had no problem since. This was at about 30 weeks. I wish I'd gone to doctor sooner. It might not have come to surgery

You will need to get you your GP. I can see others have advised the same. Plus lots of water and prune juice. It sucks

When you need to go to the loo, OP, put your feet up on something when you're sitting on the loo. Like a small stool or step or something. And lean forward.

This makes it much easier. Well- you did say tmi!

Sorry, didn't see this was in pregnancy, so no ibuprofen, but definitely get stuff in prep for after. I had a fantastic calm home birth, no problems, a tiny graze....but was in agony after a few days with piles! I had no idea they.could appear a week after the birth, thought I'd got away scot free! Also, sports water bottle filled with cool water, squirt it at the area whilst you.use the loo, good for any stitches after too. Bliss.

Bless you all, been to see GP, she has given me mild laxatives (I really don't want to go to the toilet but she says long term it will help) and lactulose solution along with some scheriproct. I bought myself some witch hazel too! She also told me to push them back inside (bleugh)

Been there done that and have the scars. Lactulose will help as will movicol. Drink loads of water if you're drinking lactulose though.

What helped me a lot during pregnancy was pelvic floor exercises. No joke. If you think of your rectum, the inside should be smooth muscle, but due to straining and pressure on the intestines of a baby, the muscle can become loose and fall down (think of a loose knee high sock) and this causes the lumps and bumps. You need to exercise the muscles to make them smooth again. So pelvic floors; clench the back passage, then the vagina..and hold.

Even now when I flare up I start the pelvic floors and its helps a lot.

Don't bother with anything except Xycloproct, it has local anaesthetic in it. Mine get thrombosed, it only takes the edge off but nothing else gets close to touching it. I've had them for years and they give me brief pregnant or not, too scared to have the surgery though after hearing about how bad the recovery is.
