Washing

What did you use/are you intending to use to wash your babies clothes and also which fabric softener?

Also did you wash everything?

I always used fairy and comfort fabric softener & never had any problems

Perfume free non bio washing powder (not much of it) and no softener.

Everything that can be washed will be :)

Fairy non bio and scent free softener or comfort sensitive.

Washed everything first.

I washed everything I bought new before using. Clean second hand clothes from friends/relatives I didn't bother with a re-wash.

I used a non bio washing tab (fairy), that I knew didn't cause me any skin problems (I have eczema). Didn't use any fabric softener as I never do any way - one less thing to not have to worry about wrt eczema.

Normal bio washing powder. I washed second hand clothes and bedding before using them but not new things.
Haven't washed toys (unless slobbered on by the dog).

Currently 32 weeks with a 5 year old dd. I don't have any intentions of changing from our regular washing powder/conditioner really (I will separate soiled poopy stuff obviously) but I'll still use the same soap x for baby stuff I always make sure to rinse and rinse again though x

On and I had a bit of mad nesting at 27/28 weeks but everything will be washed and ready to use again at 39 weeks (dh agreed that he would do it - yus)

I avoided fabric conditioner. It stays on the garment and with my first it triggered eczema. You don't need conditioner.

This is very true about conditioner I ran out last wk and did a couple of washes without whilst waiting for Asda delivery, there was absolutely no difference to the softness of the clothes just more mild smell but still nice fresh smell. So when I've used up current one I'll be giving it up I think!

Didn't wash anything, won't again this time. I just use any non-bio washing powder. Lidl own brand at the moment.

I have been passed some things from sister in law which have been in the loft so think I will wash those. I often think new things look best when they haven't been washed so might not wash new

I've washed everything as it's all re-used from DD1 and has been in the loft. Aldi own brand non bio liquid, no softener/conditioner (never use it). All smells lovely and fresh and just needs a squishy newborn in it now! Am overdue so getting impatient!

I use Surcare liquid and fabric softener for DS's clothes as it seems to be the only one out there that is more or less fragrance free. And it's cheaper than Ecover.

Fairy non bio liquid and the Fairy fabric conditioner, gave the lidl non bio liquid and fabric softener a try recently as Fairy was not on offer and found that just as good and a fraction of the cost. I did test on one item to make sure didn't cause rash or any reaction before using on everything else.

I've been using non bio gel plus an antibacterial stuff you put in the softener section of the draw, then doing am extra rinse.

Probably Surcare or Ecover but I will occasionally wash in bio, especially cloth nappies, to get them really clean. We need bio for DH's clothes otherwise the armpits stay musty Confused.

Occasionally use Ecover conditioner but very rarely, especially if tumble drying.

I always wash clothes coming into the house, new or second hand, after I had a horrific allergic reaction to a new unwashed bra!

Fairy non bio and no fabric conditioner. I washed new clothes and those passed onto us. I washed sheets, moses basket covers etc. as time went on I stopped washing all new stuff but they're just so fragile when newborns.

Washed anything n everything twice - once when bought n once to freshen towards when babies were due. Used whatever soap powder n softener were on offer at the time. No babas had a reaction of any sort but their clothes did smell lovely!

Non-bio gel capsules, I don't think the brand matters. No fabric conditioner.

It really does depend on the kid. I accidently used a cleaner you should gloves with on the changing mat and didn't rinse and he was totally fine.

I don't think non bio washing powder exists outside of the UK...certainly not here anyway!!

I've never used fabric softener either...I've just been washing baby bits with our standard bio washing powder and that's it.
