..but I'm still not clear on the whole trimester/month malarkey! I've read loads of conflicting stuff and I'm hoping someone can enlighten me:
HOW exactly is a 40 week pregnancy broken down into trimesters? And how many weeks is 'six months' 'seven months' etc? I am 25 1/2 weeks - am I six months pregnant or 'in the seventh month?' Will I be seven months at 26 or 28 weeks or what? It's driving me nuts and i can't get a straight answer from google! all help gratefully recieved!

as far as I was concerned there is no straight answer. Approximate it, or make it up if you want. If anyone dares challenge you, rant at them.

This was my solution. Is irritating though.

I think people use 6 months/7 months etc quite loosely - I know I did. I would use calendar months though, so 7 months would be roughly 29 weeks. if it makes you feel better you can say 7 months at 28 weeks though.

ps 6 months preg and "in the seventh month" is the same thing.

yes, and it is highy amusing to tell people you are a lot less pregnant than you are if you like that kind of thing. I also told a rude lady in the airport that I was "just fat", which made her less rude.

LMAO couldn't have put the answer to your question better myself! LOL

AFAIK, the first trimester is 0-12 weeks, second is 13-26 weeks, and third is 27-42.

Re. the month thing, not that it realy matters because all the midwives and doctors you will see will count in weeks (probably for this very reason), but I have always calculated it from the first day of my last period, which was the 18th of Feb, which puts me now at 9 months and 5 days!! Much easier to stick to weeks IMO.

Thanks for your replies. I shall just use weeks from now on - it seems to be less confusing!
