Please can folk with more current experience of these things look at this and tell me what you think? There is a line there isn't there... V v faint but it's there...

I'm 43, with teen/grown children, a new relationship and a Mirena coil in situ!! I took the test due to sore boobs....

Jesse .. there was a line yesterday which means it picked up hcg. Imo, something is going on in there.. unfortunately the neg test suggests if there is a beginning of a pregnancy it perhaps has been disrupted by the coil.

I'd go and get it removed asap and do another test in a few days or ask the gp for bloods so you can rule out things like ectopic's.

It must be a very confusing/shocking time Flowers

Also I don't consider yesterday's line to be faint 'enough' to be entirely disregarded. It was stronger than my first tests with this pregnancy (26wks now) x

I got pregnant with a mirena in situ. Even with this mornings test you need to get to your GP ASAP. There's a very high chance that it's ectopic if you are pregnant.

It might be worth seeing the gp to see if they will scan.

Northernlurker · 07/08/2015 10:10

I think you need some bloods doing to check for HCG then more bloods ina few days to see what's happening. Don't ignore this.

SpottyTeacakes · 07/08/2015 10:20

Northern is right.

Don't ignore the line from yesterday op, please go and see your GP asap as everyone else has said.

JessePinkmansHoody · 07/08/2015 15:14

I will test again in a few days (with a better test) and check it's still negative. An ectopic would still give a positive result I think?

Maybe it was a chemical pregnancy... An egg fertilised and then couldn't implant....

An ectopic would give a faint positive

MissSMartin · 07/08/2015 15:41

jesse my mum had that coil and she went back to the doctors for a check up of it & the coil had gone, they thought it could have fallen out which she knew it hadn't so they did a scan and found out that it had moved into her abdominal cavity so she could have potentially got pregnant (it's pretty rare!). I Would go to ur doctors & make sure yours is in the right place

Northernlurker · 07/08/2015 17:00

The thing is OP - the Mirena is good at preventing pregnancy implanting and yet yesterday you had a faint line plus the symptoms that made you test. Presumably you've not started your period yet either? So we need to think why is yesterday's line not here today and the possibilities are a faulty test or a pregnancy which is ending or not able to establish itself properly. And if it's the latter then with a Mirena in the situation the question you need to answer is where is that pregnancy? Because it almost certainly isn't in the uterus. And that's not something we mess around with....

So you need to see the GP and insist on HCG bloods with a day or two in between. That will tell you for sure what if anything is happening.

moooolah · 07/08/2015 17:19

Do NOT let them do a preg test in gp office and dismiss you on the lack of line.

Speaking from experience. I was desperate for help and he was having none of it, because it was so faint on his test.

I was in hospital seriously sick within a day with an ectopic. Don't talk yourself down. There was a line yesterday. .the egg has implanted somewhere. Your neg test suggest it is almost certainly failing (Flowers) but you are at such a risk on account of your coil.

Get help x
