When did your clothes get too tight?

I'm not talking maternity jeans needed but wondering when your regular clothes got too tight? Just realised lots of my tops are not fitting me. I'll be 14 weeks tomorrow. I was thinking of buying some new tops in a larger size but holding off on maternity clothes until I have a bump!

Tops are fine but just ditched jeans and work trousers for maternity ones at 16 weeks. It not that I can't do them up, like many others have mentioned it makes me feel awful having something cutting into my middle.

21 weeks & I have 2 pairs of jeans left that fit. Everything else has been put away til next year. I think a few of my tops will last me a fair bit longer but trousers are definitely snug!

I needed maternity jeans really early as mine were really tight.,

However I'm still wearing most of my normal clothes at seven months. I lost quite a bit through sickness at the start...

I'm 11 weeks and my sister brought me down some of her old maternity clothes a few weeks ago, thank goodness! Usually a size 12 bottoms and 10 top. Bought some size 14 trousers but found they're pressure on my belly which I couldn't stand! My work trousers are way too tight on the waist, so I walk around with them undone and a long top over them! Maternity clothes are so comfortable!

"Im having my 3rd and my clothes are tight now at 8 weeks I am sooooo bloated"

Yep, am in the same boat. Get bloated more quickly third time round, I think.

I lost half a stone in the first trimester but I still needed maternity jeans at 13 ish weeks. It obviously wasn't fat causing the problem as I had lost weight but I had a definite rounded tummy which meant my jeans wouldn't fasten.
I think a lot depends on how your bump grows too, my bump is quite low (has been in each pregnancy) so my bump expands right across where my waistband sits.

goodnessgraciousgouda · 07/08/2015 22:24

I stopped wearing jeans and trousers pretty much immediately as the bloating made them insanely uncomfortable. Dresses with waists I couldn't do up from around 12 weeks, but they had fitted waists to begin with. An extra inch made a big difference.

I'm 18 weeks and in a range of maternity and non maternity dresses. I'm in non maternity tops, though my vest tops are beginning to get tight.

I had to buy new bras at 8 weeks and now at 10 weeks although I can still fit into my usual trousers they are pretty uncomfortable so buying a size bigger than normal!!

toohardtothinkofaname · 08/08/2015 14:31

I switched to maternity clothes last week 17+5. Old clothes still fit but my god, am I more comfortable now & feel like my old self - don't feel fat

TheDisillusionedAnarchist · 08/08/2015 14:37

I'm 32 weeks and still not bought any maternity clothes at all. I am pretty fat and into loose clothes anyway though. Was contemplating a maternity swimsuit and some jeans but is beginning to seem pointless so far on

nicolah132 · 09/08/2015 06:54

I haven't had to buy any maternity clothes yet.. When I've been shopping I've just bought tops and trousers that another size or two up than usual! (29 weeks pregnant :) ) I feel like a very small 29 weeks though even though i'm not...as I can't see my feet anymore Shock

Runningupthathill82 · 09/08/2015 06:58

Nicolah - is that stuff not huge everywhere else though? If I bought trousers two sizes bigger I'd look ridiculous!

Superexcited · 09/08/2015 07:47

I contemplated just buying a size up when my clothes started to get tight at 13 weeks but I figured that if I did that I would soon have to buy another size up and so on and it would be a waste of money on the long term (as well as the clothes being too big everywhere except my bump). By just getting maternity clothes straight away I knew I would only have to buy once and they will (hopefully) last me throughout the pregnancy and fit properly all over.

I am nearly 9 weeks and my work trousers are so uncomfortable in the afternoon. This isn't due to any weight gain or bump, it's because I get so bloated in the afternoon!

GotTheKey · 10/08/2015 15:13

9 weeks I felt like nothing fit but that was first trimester bloating and constipation!!
I properly grew out of stuff at about 16-17 weeks.
