anterior placenta?

Yesterday I had my 20 week scan at 20 weeks and 4 days. Everything went well which I couldn't be happier about!

I'd been complaining about not feeling much movement, however after saying that I've felt a fair bit in the past few days which has made me happy and reassured. When I went for my scan, the the sonographer talked me through everything rather than staying quiet which I appreciated and found really interesting. He told me the position of my placenta was on the front wall and I asked if that was ok and he said yes it's normal. I know people with an anterior placenta tend to not feel movement as much but the sonographer didn't say anything about that so I wondered if your placenta had to be a certain type of anterior to not feel much movement? (If that makes any sense). In my notes it just says anterior nothing else about whether it's high/low.
I just wonder because I've definitely been feeling baby movements now and I just wanted to know if this means I'd carry on feeling more or if I'd feel not as much?
I completely forgot to ask about this yesterday because I was so mesmerised by my scan!

I have anterior placenta this time round, im 25 weeks. I would say from memory in comparison to my first pregnancy (posterior) placenta, the kicks are as frequent, but feel duller, like if you put a cushion on your lap and smack it, you feel it but not as much as if you just smack you legs.....if you see what i mean?

I have no idea about high or low, as my understanding is that your placenta kind of moves as the baby grows, so its attached the wall of your uterus but can go higher as your uterus expands

I've had an anterior placenta for both pregnancies. Movements were few and far between until about 20 weeks but now (32 weeks) I feel every kick, punch and tumble. I think when they get big enough it doesn't really matter where your placenta is, you'll still feel plenty Smile oh and if it was low, they might have written it on your notes. Or at least have mentioned it on a scan. I know they have mentioned several times that mine isn't low

I've an anterior placenta and started feeling regular movements from about 26 weeks - much late than with DD who was posterior. This time round I felt lots of tickles really low down from about 14 weeks for a month or so then or so much. I think once baby went from tickles to kicks the placenta really dulled them. I'm now 32 weeks and feel everything.

If your placenta had been low enough to he a cause for concern then they'd have booked you in for a follow up scan about 32 weeks. So I wouldn't be worrying about that :)

Grr auto correct... should say not so much movement from about 18 weeks once it went from tickles to kicks. ..

Ah thank you all!
I assume what I feel now is quite dull in camparison to what I'd feel with a posterior placenta. Movement/kicks feel like little twitches on the inside or little taps or like a big bubble that's rose to the surface if that makes any sense at all (I definitely don't think it's wind and I'm not really good at explaining want I mean by the last explanation). Does that sound like normal movement at this stage with little taps and such? I've felt the odd roll (I think?) which has definitely been the baby and enough to make me stop what I'm doing and stare at my belly thinking what the hell was that?

sometimes I'm scared to get too excited in case what I'm feeling just isn't that baby at all and I'm getting excited over nothing!

I had anterior placenta last time and felt very little movement up until the end.

Posterior placenta this time and definitely feeling more, although can still go for long periods in day without feeling much! I think I have particularly unwriggly babes!

Sounds totally normal Frills :) And it'll just be another few weeks before you start feeling more pronounced movements, despite your placenta. My midwife said about 28 weeks is normal but I felt definite movements from a few weeks before that.

They will tell you if it's low as that can be a problem (my DS was born early due to placenta praevia) so if they've said nothing it's high.
Anterior is only a problem if you've got a previous section scar,but again they would've mentioned it if it was anywhere near the scar.
Otherwise it's fine - it just means it's at the front basically
