Question about missed miscarriage

I'm 6 wks pregant for the 3rd time, and due to problems with my second pregnancy I'm being referred to the Early Pregnancy Unit next week. For a number of reasons I'm really anxious about this pregnancy and, althugh I've never had one, I'm worried that I'm going to go for my scan and find out I've miscarried.

I know I'm just paranoid, but I was wondering if you would still get a positive pregnancy test if you'd had a missed miscarriage. Sorry if this is a painful topic for some people...

I'm just parnoid about everything with this pregnancy as my last one went so wrong. I didn't really know about missed miscarriages before looking on mumsnet, and now I'm worried that when I go for my scan they will say I've already lost the baby (I have no PG symptoms this time either, so dont even feel pregnant) - I thought I would do another PG test before my early scan which will be at 7 weeks, but I wasn't sure if it would still show as postive anyway - Does this make any sense?

i understand ur fear sbut i didnt have any symptoms till tuesday this week now i feel ill all day every day its awful, my sister didnt even know she was pg till 5 months so every pregnancy is different just try and relax, when is ur scan x

Chooster - yes it would still show as +ve if you've had a missed miscarriage, so don't waste your money.

But - you don't know you've had a missed miscarriage. So, try to relax before your early scan. WOrrying is not going to change anything.

if you didn't feel pregnant before, then the fact that you don't this time is nothing to worry about in itself. What might be more worrying is if you'd started to feel prganant and don't any more.

I've had two missed miscarriages - and the loss of pregnancy sysmptoms was, in hindsight, the only "warning" I got. The second time I had a very early scan (becasue of the missed miscarriage), so I'd bearly had time to register the loss of symptoms (although dh did comment that the "boob fairy" hadn't arrived )

thanks for your comments prettybird and nadine. I'e had 3 pregnancies before and with all I've been really sick, with this one, nothing. But, I take your point prettybird - I haven't had symptoms which have since disppeared.

hello Chooster, I had a missed mc in April. the baby died at 7 weeks, I was so sick and so full of pregnancy symptoms from the very start, you would not believe it. They all continued as normal until the scan at 13 weeks, which is when we found out. When I was pg with my DS , I had very few symptoms at all, and only realised I was pg at 12 weeks. I'm currently pg and felt fine until 9 weeks, then was sick as a dog until 20 weeks. So the others are right, there are no real indicators. I know how hard it is to put it out of your mind when you have worries, but I would just try to fill your time with things you really enjoy and try to take it easy. the mc taught me (in a really positive way) that worrying does no good either way.

really hoping you have good news at your scan, and if bad news, there is lots of support on the ttc after mc thread, then the pg after mc thread. sadly lots of us go through it, and be assured if you are unlucky, there are friends on the journey willing to help

Hello, pregnancy symptoms don't always occur. I had absoulutly ziltch with ds or dd. I wouldn't of even know I was pg if it wasn't for loss of periods.

I am now 15 weeks with no.3 and this has been tough. Sooooo glad I didn't get any with the first two. I may not have made it to dc no.3.
