Pregnancy paper work

Last week the daughter in law wasnt very well, Recently been put an anti depresants.Trip up the hospital confirmed she is roughly two weeks , as im told.Should she had any confimation of the doc? They did blood tests but we normally call up to find results.Someone mentioned a slip for the surgery/midwife.
Its all changed since i had my child 20 years ago

Nope, you get nothing in writing until you go for your 'booking in' appointment with the midwife at roughly 8 weeks. How you are in contact with the midwife service varies by area, some you call direct some need a referral from the gp, but the gp won't do a pregnancy test (and neither did my midwife).

I literally turned up at my gp and said "I've done 3 home pregnancy tests and they were positive" he said "ok, I'll book you in with the midwife, when was your last period".

In my area I still have to go to GP first but they didn't check anything just made me an appointment with the midwife at 7 weeks. The first "real" confirmation I was pregnant was my 13 week scan.

Did they tell her to see her own GP to be referred to the midwife? Or was she referred by the hospital? Did they not tell her what to do next? She should get a letter about a booking in appointment after she's been referred to the midwife.

With my first two pregnancies I went to my GP who referred me to the midwife. Third pregnancy I phoned the central booking line to make my booking in appointment and 12 week scan.

No, the only paperwork happens later on. Pregnancy is a self-referrable condition, you don't even need to see a GP. Your DIL can just call the midwifery department at the nearest maternity hospital or alternatively she can call the local community midwifery team and they will book her in.

Although as she's on ADs she should check with her GP relatively quickly that they are ok to take during pregnancy. A lot of medication can continue to be taken during pregnancy but she will need to be under the care of GP or consultant for that.
