Approximately seven weeks ago I had the flu, it last for three weeks. Full on cold, fever, throat , cough and exhaustion, I was a real mess. I had never felt so ill before the coughing was so bad I would vomit some times.

Roll on till now and it has returned it is so unfair I don think I can cope with it again and with the baby moving now(I am 23 weeks) I'm starting to worry I will affect it some how with all the strain on my body. I feel like crying, I also don't want my work to think I am just taking the mick either.

Bit confused - if you've actual flu you need urgent medical attention when pregnant surely? No way could work think you are taking advantage. What is your temperature?

If you mean a bad cold - sympathies. A bad cold can be awful and make you feel totally rotten. I don't think it would normally be enough to do any harm to a baby in the womb though. Take it easy over the weekend, paracetamol and fluids. Rest. If it doesn't shift and combination of pregnancy and cold is too much ask your midwife for advice - esp re cough if it returns as could be secondary chest infection if it's that bad.

Either way feel better soon Flowers

If it's not flu it is certainly the bouts of cold I have ever ever had. I worry about work because i generally go in when I am sick, more of a mind over matter person.

If you had actual flu I doubt you'd be on MN.
Being ill when pg sucks though.

Hi, I had flu once and omg I thought I was going to die!

I think it sounds like a really bad cold you have as with real flu you are unable to lift your head off the pillow also you won't be able to look from side to side and you will have shorting pains right through your head and body Confused I also hallucinated several times a day to the point my body through its self out the bed Shock. So glad I only had the flu once ????????

Well if it's a cold, I couldn't imagine the flu then, I really really feel awful, I'm hot then cold then hot again it's just too much.

I just want a lemsip and feel better, I've had some honey and lemon with paracetamol but it's just not working and I know I am feeling so sorry for myself.

i have a crappy cold too, be it a bad cold or the flu it sucks when pregnant. If lemsip would make it better then it's probably just a cold. Rest lots and plenty of fluids. Hopefully it'll pass in a few days, I'm on my 3rd day of bed :( We're supposed to be going on holiday on Monday!!
