Can barely type this, am so nervous/tentatively excited! Been off the pill a few months, last month really TRIED...and....

I got a BFP this morning with an access diagnostics ultra sensitive test. The line is fainter than the standard one, but definitely very much there and appeared straight away.

Now, the reason why I am complete and utter shock is because as far as I was aware, I had a period last week. I?ve read about implantation bleeds on here but this was more than the odd spot of blood. However, it was pretty light and while the majority of it was brownish, there was some red blood in there. It seemed to stop and start a bit? Now have lower back pain and quite a bit of ewcm type discharge (which would normally be way too early for me ? normally ovulate around day 19 or so), boobs feel a bit ?hot? but not exactly sore. Twingy pains in pelvic area. Felt a bit nauseous this morning but probably the excitement!

My questions are 1) did anyone else have this experience with this type of implantation? And 2) Should I be worried? It?s a sensitive test and I did one about a week before my ?period? and got a BFN?.is this a worrying sign, coupled with the bleeding? Not to mention my huge worries about the extremely boozy and smokey lunch I enjoyed on sunday....

Your wisdom and reassurance, dear mumsnetters, would be most appreciated! Xxx

if you have a bfp now then it is likely to be positive. Would re test in a few days. I had heavy bleeds with both Ds and the baby I am 32wks with now. The pains like period pains are wquite common in early pregnancy so would wait a few days test again then go to gp.

yes with ds, hadn't had a period since having dd and thought it had come back, cramps, bigger hot boobs and slight brown bleeding.

no, don't worry, at 10 weeks with dd even the ultra sensitive hospital tests came up negative and it was a perfectly healthy pregnancy and she was fine so having a positive test now is fine, i wouldn't worrry about a bfn a week before you were due at all

thanks for words of reassurance girls, though am feeling sooo paranoid that this could be a threatened miscarrige or even ectopic... do you think i should go to an epu and get it checked out? and am worried those access diagnostic dipstick tests are so flimsy they can't possibly be right! any more 'this happened to me and my baby was fine' stories VERY much appreciated....x

This happened to me and everything was fine.

There, does that help? I know several people who had what must have been an implantation bleed but assumed it was their period (red and brown blood, stopping and starting etc, they all describe it the same way). Plus, access diagnostics tests are reliable (I got a bfp at 3+6 with them and am currently 15wks). I also had lots of cramping and back pain from about 4-8wks and ewcm at the oddest of times.

Congratulations, you're up the duff! However, if you want to go to the GP and register the pregnancy and just voice your concerns I'm sure they would be more than happy to listen.

omg omg, UP THE DUFF! i really hope so...this will be my much longed for first... [grin}

BUT, and sorry to drive you all mad, am searching on old threads and it does seem that people have had positives and then had their period start, ie a very early miscarriage...it couldn't be that that is what happened to me and the hormones are still there and showing line? (but then I guess period would have been heavier rather than so light?) x

Hiya, I also had a faint line when I first tested. I couldn't believe it either! I think I may have had an implantation bleed a week or so before but I can't be 100% sure on that. oh and now 37 wks!

Anyway..what I really wanted to say is that a line (no matter how faint) is a line! I did another 2 tests just to be sure. Why don't you test again in a day or two, if you can wait that long!

Goodluck glittercaz. let us know....

Congratulations on your pregnancy glittercaz!

It's prob not worth going to the doctors, and I don't think the EPU would see you yet (could be wrong).

I couldn't believe it when my test came up positive (due with my first in March), and tested every day for about a week, just for the sheer joy of seeing the line come up in the box.

lorie · 22/11/2006 11:30
