Hi - never started a thread before so here goes!

A friend of mine at work has recently become pregnant (she is roughly 8 weeks). However, ever since she has conceived she has had this kind of stitch pain in her side. She finds it difficult to describe except that it grabs her alot, especially when she gets up and starts to walk around. It was initially so bad that she thought that it may be an eptopic pregnancy. Thankfully she has had the probe and everything is fine but the pain continues.

I think she is worries that she will have this pain for 9 months. I said that I will ask on Mumsnet for her in the hope that someone could offer any advice!

hi, i experienced similar pain. When I asked my community midwife, I think she said (nearly 4 years ago) it was the placenta attaching itself to the wall of the womb and not to worry. Obviously your friend should ask her midwife for confirmation HTH

I had similar side pain during pregnancy, and was told it is your ovary, which supports (ie feeds!) the baby until the placenta takes over at around 3 months. Nothing to worry about...

I had this too, and still do in bed sometimes, figured it was just one of those pregnancy pains!!

not to be a scaremonger but make sure she goes and gets it checked out as soon as possible as pains on one side can be a sign of an ectopic pregnancy. It is more likley to just be a normal pregnancy pain though as the others have said

could also be an ovarian cyst- very common in early pregnancy.
