Heart burn- over phone prescription?

I am having bad heart burn and spending a small fortune in gavisgon, which I think has a marginal placebo rather than any medical effect
I know I can get it on script but it seems such a waste or Drs appt time and also hard to take time off for an appointment for something I don't need diagnosing I just need a script for- so do you think if I phoned they would prescribe over phone?
I saw Mw last week all fine bar breach baby, I just forgot to mention it to her Blush

My friend works in boots and they have a minor ailments scheme which isn't well advertised (they'd lose money). She told me if I take my maternity exemption card in I can get gaviscon for free on the minor ailments scheme. I'm not sure what else you can get on it but it's worth asking if you go in.

Checked online seems you can, may be easier than making doctors appointments/getting prescriptions over the phone if you pass by a boots soon?

I went to my Dr about heartburn Blush in the hope that she would prescribe something stronger than gaviscon. She didn't, but did Gove me a prescription for gaviscon advance. And told me next time to arrange a phone appointment, so yes I think you can get it on a phone appointment.

You have my sympathy - I'm sick most nights with heartburn. It's horrendous.

Well.... I'm wasting my docs time today at 10.40 because after 3 weeks of sleepless nights I can't function at work! Gaviscon aint touching it so I'm gonna be asking for Omeprazole which is apparently safe during pregnancy and can be prescribed by your GP.

God forbid if the doc argues with a 31+3 preggo... I'll have him/her in a grapple hold until they submit.

Ask for ranitidine. It has a really good safety profile in pregnancy. Olemparozole works too, also safe in pregnancy, just there's more safety data for ranitidine.

I too am at that stage where gaviscon works for about ten minutes. Ranitidine works by actually reducing the amount of acid your stomach produces and has a longer lasting effect.

If Dr. Is ok with you taking it you can buy it in boots for pennies, it's out of patent now.

Omeprezole... I now has it.

Will let you know how I get on with it but fingers crossed it stops the choking in the middle of the night!
