Stressing over Xmas due date!!

Hi just wondered if Any of u ladies has any advice on what will happen with my due date,I'm due on 2nd jan but am having my 4th caesarean, will be taken in at 39 weeks which would make it Boxing Day my midwife seemed to think there wouldn't be much theatre staff on that day which would maybe mean it would be put off to the 27th..however my stepsons birthday is the 27th so reeeeeallly don't want the baby to be born on that day..I know before any of u start that the baby will come when it comes but just wondered if they will let me change the day for that reason? Has anyone had the same situation?

You would normally have your c section when the consultant can fit you in.

If that's the 27th, that's the 27th.

They might let you, but they will probably move it later not earlier. It very much depends which days they do lists and what days they aren't operating.

Wasn't asking for anyone to be judgey obviously if that's the only date they can give me there's nothing I can do about it, but in an ideal world I wouldn't want them to be sharing a birthday..

I think you can't choose. If you gave birth naturally you wouldn't be able to choose so no different really. Ds1 was due on my birthday, not much I could do about it, but he ended up arriving 10 days early anyway.

Whohasnickedmyvodka glad u seen point obviously I won't have the final say, but u wouldn't want ur kids to be sharing their birthday it's their own special day..and also I don't want to miss my stepsons birthday because I'm in hospital would feel awful xx

For DD1 I had a choice of 3 days.

It was weird choosing her birthday.

They were three consecutive dates, I think - 18th, 19th or 20th April. I'm not sure if the time of year makes much difference though - but Christmas birthdays can be difficult at the best of times

Ds was due 20/12. Consultant said I could choose a date from 13 onwards until about 18th iirc.

I chose 13th.

Well just checked and the 26th and 27th land on a weekend this year so thinking they might put it till the 28th which would make me 39+2 obviously as long as my baby is healthy I'll be happy but if I get a choice of dates that would be amazing..

The thing is that it's going to be close enough to you stepsons birthday to mean they might share a celebration anyway, so I wouldn't get too caught up on exact dates. I would just focus on your baby being healthy and let the rest take care if itself.

I did say previously that my baby being healthy is most important..was just wondering if anyone had been in a similar situation really..

I think sometimes we can over think these things. You mind find that sharing a birthday works out in the future to be a special thing that your child and stepson love, that brings them together.

Know idea why people are getting so excited about choosing dates. I think it would be great to choose a day that's most suitable. If you were rich enough to be doing it privately, you could choose.

Thanks sleepy bunny maybe am slightly over thinking it I just wouldn't want either child to resent the other for "stealing" their birthday know that probably wouldn't happen but I'm a worrier, I will say again just to make it very clear that my baby's health is number one priority and that priority is higher than what day he/she will be born on but was just wondering what other people's experiences were that is all..what will be will be and if my baby is born on 27th then that's absolutely fine but IF I get a choice I will choose for it to be another day..suppose I will just have to wait and see what the consultant says

I was given a choice: 39w, 39+1 or 39+2

Hopefully you'll be allowed something similar.

Thanks seaoflove fingers crossed..either way it's an exciting time of the year for baby to be born, I'm like a big kid at Xmas, and wil have this to look forward to aswell

For an elective section it won't usually be on a weekend or a bank holiday (but of course they will do emergencies). They will have set days they do the electives e.g. Monday and Wednesday or whatever your hospital has. The 27th is a Sunday and the 28th is a bank holiday so I'd imagine you'll not be in on 27th, but it depends on your dates and the surgeons working pattern.

Thanks abbey that's put my mind at ease a bit..did wonder how it would work with bank holidays etc, like u say will just depend what day my surgeon is on that week..

I don't have any advixe, but why not join us on the Christmas abd New years baby group. Between us all we're slowly figuring out the logistics of festive babies
