17w pregnant and losing handfuls of hair

Is this normal?! I seem to remember the exact opposite happening with my DS - this time round I'm losing huge clumps of hair every time I wash / brush it

It can be, but I'd go to your GP and get it checked out anyway. They'll be able to tell you if it's normal hair loss /increased turnover mediated via hormones, some form of alopecia or if the underlying cause is something physical (thyroid issues for example.)

Thanks Skiptonlass - I hadn't considered that it might be thyroid related. I'll get in touch with my GP, I'm beginning to worry about bald patches emerging!
