reduced movements at 28 weeks after a stillbirth of twins - still feel like im making a fuss over nothing...

I'm heading up to the hospital now and I obviously realise the extreme seriousness of all of this. However I know - I can feel it in my waters - that I'm going to go there, my baby is going to move and they are going to think "oh there she is being a drama queen".

Has anyone else had anything like this....at all...gah. I've only got 12 weeks left to go and I'm feeling so very overwhelmed now... Please baby move!! (currently eating ice cream like a mad woman)

I really just feel like is there anything else that could go wrong

I am so sorry about your previous stillbirth. You are not making a fuss about nothing, your absolutely right to go in and get everything checked. Hoping all is fine when you go in x

I've never had a stillbirth and still had a moment during pregnancy where I wasn't happy with movement and called my mw. It was all fine but they were lovely and patient and compassionate about it. In fact there are threads in here on a weekly basis with someone doing exactly what you are.

I'm so sorry for previous loss and hopefully it'll all be absolutely fine this time. You're totally right to check it out though.

As pp say, go get it checked. Who cares what others think. Ir was always impressed on me to get any reduction in movement checked. I hope baby is active and wriggly when you get there x

I am an absolute veteran of going in for extra monitoring when I've felt reduced movements. Been in today in fact (30 weeks). Because I am 100% certain that at least one, if not both, my DS's would not be here today had I not been vigilant with them. Over 3 pregnancies I must have been in half a dozen times, maybe more. Never once have it ever been suggested that I've wasted anyone's time. Quite the opposite, they've been absolutely clear that I must go straight back if worried again.

I've been five times now OP and I'm 35 weeks. Much better to go and be checked out. I hope you're feeling reassured soon Flowers

Update: Baby fine. In fact as soon as they got the monitors on - he was on the move...had a 45 minute ctg, a prod and have had senior Drs come and have a chat. They were all very nice and all said it was the right thing to do. Very relieved but still anxious for him to be safe and out - roll on October!!!

Glad to hear that all is well with baby OP.

I understand completely your anxiety, and spent much time of my pregnancies after my first baby died at the assessment unit when I got overwhelmed with anxiety.

How frequently do you see your midwife/have scans? One problem for me was that my subsequent pregnancies were treated as 'normal' after the 20 week scan, which left me feeling very adrift. If I had had more regular check ups, I would have spent less time going to the assessment unit when I thought something was wrong, as my anxiety would have been more contained.

Definitely don't feel bad about going. The staff would rather see you 100 times with a baby who is fine than risk him/her not being fine!

christina up until the 20 week I was observed (quite literally) like a hawk. I had hyperemisis as well which meant i was up the hospital a lot anyway -... Totally thought it would be like that until now and further but I would say that its been average... I have 2 midwives one of whom Is lovely and the other is a more "get on with it" type. I'm also under a consultant (who is lovely - I've had quite a long relationship with her over all of my pregnancies - bit the last two appointments have been with one of her registrars - who have been like my least favourite midwife lol very much like try to put your past experiences behind you - which to a point i have been trying to, as I want as normal a birth as possible, but its so much easier said than done. Tbh I'm not sure what I was expecting really...

I was surprised by the intensity of the anxiety I felt even after I'd got past the point in the pregnancy when my previous baby had died.

In hindsight, I think having regular appointments penned in to listen to the heartbeat etc would have been much more containing than weeks and weeks between appointments.

Could you arrange to see the supportive midwife regularly at all? How lovely it would be to be able to put past experience behind you and not worry at all, but anyone who thinks that's possible is absolutely barmy.

I believe that there is some evidence that more scans improve outcomes. Not sure why. Anyway, like I said up thread, both my DS's are here because I acted on reduced movements. Because of my history I was routinely offered a scan every 4 weeks from 20 weeks with DS2, eventually increasing to fortnightly, weekly then 2x a week in the 2 weeks before he was born. Now pregnant with DS3 and am on the same schedule. It has been clear that this is not just to monitor the baby's health but for my mental health. And my scans from 28 weeks are done by the consultant in foetal medicine, not a standard obstetric sonographer. So I get the scan at the same time as the full clinical picture. Very reassuring.

OP I'm so glad everything was ok. But please, whatever you do, don't put it off (if there's a next time) for fear of what they might think or say. I bet the hospital would rather see you every day between now and term than have you worry. And even if they wouldn't, and a basically shite medical professional had the audacity to judge. Go anyway. It is their job to take care of you, not to judge you. Of course anxiety isn't good, but I'm not sure they have quite the right view on what might or might not make you anxious.

I'm surprised you aren't being monitored more as a matter of course to be honest.

You're not making a fuss about nothing. It's important you go.

I had reduced movements with both dcs and midwives were lovely and reassuring and always told me to come back if I was ever at all concerned.

Best of luck- I'm sure all will be fine but better to go and get checked. Xx

Go in as many times as you feel you need to. You never have to see them again once you've had your baby so who cares what they think of you.
