I'm currently in hospital had the propess 24 hr pessary couple of hours ago. I got monitored an for an hour afterwards but now I've been left. Just wondering if it does take 24hrs or can it happen quicker? I don't feel any different

Mine didn't work - 24 hours later I still wasn't in labour so I had to have two lots of gel to kick things off -followed- -by- -a- -drip- -and- -an- -EMCS-. I think I was unlucky though - they're supposed to take up to 24 hours but I've heard of some people going into labour much more quickly. And the experience wasn't that bad, honestly - I asked for an epidural before they broke my waters and put me on the drip, and after that it was pretty much pain free.

Argh, strike-through fail!

Twine88 · 12/07/2015 17:56

I had mine at 0930 - DD was born at 1430.

To add I felt one strong contraction in the first hour, and then lots of irregular little ones...about 1130 I was told to go off for lunch and come back - Barely made it back, was having strong contractions, but they were irregular and the MW clearly did not believe me as I was offered 1x paracetamol and a bath, would'nt even monitor me. In bath they were coming stronger, but was told they would give it another 20mins. Water then broke, and they finally decided to check and could feel baby's head. Cue much panic and a mad rush to get me into delivery suite.

Didn't work for me, sorry.
I ended up with a section as I just wouldn't go into labour.

Cloe2014 · 12/07/2015 21:43

Same as RattleAndRoll - didn't work for me and ended up with ECS.

HelenF35 · 12/07/2015 22:56

I had mine put in at 3:30pm, started contractions 3 mins apart at 3.30am, waters broke by themselves at 4am, ds1 born at before 6am. I was 1cm dilated before they started but cervix was still quite long.

Cloe2014 · 13/07/2015 09:12

I'm having tightenings but that's it is that like mini contractions ? X

It could be OP.
The machine told me I was having contractions but I couldn't feel them so I don't think I ever had proper contractions to tell you if that's them. Sorry!

Twine88 · 13/07/2015 10:30

Maybe OP, I had tightenings, and the odd feeling, but nothing that I could definately say yep a contraction - not until the last 1hr when they came thick and fast!

Cloe2014 · 13/07/2015 13:08

What's op ? Confused
