were you lying on your back! the weight of the baby & uterus can be enough to make you breathless this late on

pressure in your bum & fanjo is fine...baby moving down and heading for the exit!! lots of pains& cramps as your body gets ready for labour.....

take it easy, don;t get up too quick or have a very hot bath if you are dizzy.....xx drink lots of fluids too!

have you had a show?

NatalieJane · 19/11/2006 11:11

Debbsy, I am sure Lulu is right, not only because she normally is but it was the first thing that came into my mind before I'd even read Lulu's answer!

Obviously though if you are still concerned or start feeling worse, ring your midwife. It isn't worth getting yourself all hett up at this stage (believe me, after this weekend, I know)

DebbsyandBibby · 19/11/2006 11:12

no not yet lula yes i was on my back i think i must have rolled over cos i always sleep on my left side.
Bibby will be ok it wont have harmed him will it?

I never feel comfortable lying on my back in pregnancy but 2 pregnancys back was overdue and in hosp for a check up, lying flat on back with monitor on. Started to black out with the weight of uterus on artery
Of course it was all recorded...
My heart rate and babys plumetted on the monitor and I had to stay in hospital all night for observation! It was so annoying because I had been about to go out for a lovely lunch and had to make do with hospital slop (yuch)
Also really annoying as no-one had ever told me this could happen and the mw in hospital put me in that position
Anyway all was well so I wouldn't worry but avoid lying on your back like the plague!

lulumama · 19/11/2006 12:15

no , not at all , baby will be absolutely peachy in there!!! tis you who feels uncomfortable......the last few weeks are always so nigglesome...always a new ache or pain to worry about!

DebbsyandBibby · 19/11/2006 12:24

all ok debs? how are things now?

I could only ever sleep on my side with J as on my back was too uncomfy, do you have a pillow to rest your bump on? - perhaps try one behind your back as well - poor DH will be kicked out for a bit but it might help put your mind at ease

Frizbe · 19/11/2006 21:22

Hi Debsey, hope all is ok now for you, Munz, you may well be right yet!! seeing as I'm wrong again, my moneys on next saturday now

fondant4000 · 19/11/2006 21:56

Debbsy, I 've had this since week 36. If I lie on my back for more than 20 secs I get really faint and can't breathe.

Happened at last mw check-up, and she wouldn't let me sit up - even tho' i told her i was about to blackout! Told me to raise my knees up, whcih did help but didn't stop it.

I think the advice is to sleep on your side, and avoid lying on your back at all times! Must be normal tho' as mw wasn't bothered at all.

DebbsyandBibby · 19/11/2006 22:39

yep ok now munz thanks xx
fondant thanks you have put my mind at rest too
frizbe do you think next sat then?

Cadmum · 20/11/2006 08:22

Hope you are still OK. I would also say that being on your back was the most likely cause.

Hope you have baby in your arms safe and sound shortly!
