I keep seeing people say they are something like 5 + 2 weeks pregnant- what does that mean?

5 weeks 2 days pregnant
I'm currently 19+5weeks

I thought so! Was just checking it wasn't some strange calculation I was missing.

So I'm 3+6 weeks!

It's weeks and days since the start of your last menstrual period, not since conception, btw.

SweetCharityBeginsAtHome · 11/07/2015 15:19

Does 3+6 mean you've taken the test today then? Congratulations!

Snowberry86 · 11/07/2015 15:21

Yes test taken this morning and definitely positive. I'm cycle day 31 but I ovulated late (day 18).

You count the weeks and days from the first day of your last period, not conception. Although I used to lose count by the time I was heavily pregnant.

OhEmGeee · 11/07/2015 15:23

If you're cycle day 31 aren't you more than 3+6?

Congrats btw!

Snowberry86 · 11/07/2015 15:30

I have an app that I put the conception date in and that told me I was 3+6.

First day of my last period was 11th June and I ovulated and conceived on 28th June.

5 weeks + 2 days. Smile

OhEmGeee · 11/07/2015 15:49

Your baby will be dated from the first day of your last period, which is what the midwife will ask you when you see them at around 8 weeks ish.

CarrotPuff · 11/07/2015 15:51

MWs will count your pregnancy from first day of your LMP, not conception, so you are 4+2. Later at the dating scan they might change it.

IfYouWereARiverIdLearnToFloat · 11/07/2015 15:59

Your dates would put you at 4+2 OP. Congratulations!

SweetCharityBeginsAtHome · 11/07/2015 16:49

Do make a note of these dates though, and get them on file, because at the end of the pg it might become relevant to induction choices.

Snowberry86 · 11/07/2015 16:54

I've got them all saved in my app! My periods are quite irregular so it's hard to date but I used ovulation tests and so know what date I conceived.

If you don't know the date of the first day of your period, they'll date you at scan.

Snowberry86 · 11/07/2015 18:00

I do have the date of my last period, it was 11th June, but I didn't ovulate till day 18/19 of my cycle so I'm about 5 days behind where using my last period would put me. Day 31 of cycle today and only got a faint positive. A test on day 28 was negative.
