I'll be 41 wks tomorrow first baby I'm booked in for a sweep tomorrow I'm so nervous about it. I don't think it's so much the procedure I'm nervous about but the result. I'm not very hopeful of it actually working, and i don't know anyone who has had to have one. If it dosent work I'll be booked in for induction with the new catheter balloon :-/

Your cervix WILL change. As pp said it can change in a matter of hours. Relaxing really does help. Believe in your body. It's not going to hold on to your baby forever!! It's can't! Your body is perfectly capable of this. It's what you've been designed to do. Just because its not happening according to a timescale that the medics would like does not mean there's anything wrong with you! Your estimated due date is just that - ESTIMATED. If you go past it there doesn't mean there's anything wrong or anything to worry about.

I'm just reading that the cervix can go from not at all effaced or dilated to fully effaced and 6cm in an hour. Just thought I'd let you know xx

Just posting to say I had a sweep in he morning and midwife said my cervix was unfavourable (at 41 weeks) I gave birth less than 24 hours later so it can change fast! Good luck Smile

I was 41+1 coney. I had been having contractions for 4 days by then though, so was begging for it!
