40+4 weeks and not had a show

Hi, I'm now 40+4 weeks with my first baby and still not lost my mucus plug. The baby's head is engaged and painfully pressing on my cervix when I walk and I've been getting a lot of braxton hicks contractions. Does the fact I haven't had a show mean it could still be some time before I go into labour? Thanks, Sarah

I've only ever had a show when I'm in labour so I wouldn't say so. Know how you feel though - am 40+2 with DC3...

Some ladies lose their show weeks before they go into labour and others don't lose it all or when they are in labour. It's not a good indication of when labour will start.

I had a show with my first, meant nothing. I was induced at 10 days overdue!

I don't think everyone has one that they notice from what I've read, don't worry!

All these signs mean nothing. Dropping, a show, bh. You can get them all and wait weeks or none and have a baby 2 hours later. Only real one is if your waters go as they'll induce after X hours for infection risk

my waters had broken, strong contractions started and I had been in and out of the birth pool for 6-8 hours before I had anything at all that could resemble a show/plug. Even then I think that was just due to the MW checking how dilated i was.

Honestly don't worry about it

I had a show with my first a couple of days before I went into labour and I keep checking to see if I have had one this time too, I am 40 weeks on Wednesday. I just keep thinking if I haven't had a show then baby can't be coming soon! so I know how you feel. Looks like some others have gone into labour though without noticing one so that's positive! Don't worry it wont be much longer!
