Twice this week I've woken up with quite bad cramping type pain low down which radiates to my back and thighs. It happened Tuesday and thought I was going in to labour but then it stopped. I mentioned it to my MW and she said as long as pain stops then its alright!

Last night I woke up again with it and it REALLY hurt. It was like I'd imagine a contraction to feel but it didn't really stop - ie it hurt full on for a good 10 minutes and then gradually became less. It then hurt on and off for an hour or so then stopped and I fell asleep. This morning I feel a bit achey but otherwise fine (although exhausted as no sleep)

I'm not sure if this is a normal pregnancy pain - my MW was very blasé the other day which has made me think I should just ignore it as its gone again!

I know if i ring the community midwives they will say to go into labour ward as that's their standard response however this takes up to 8 hours at my hospital and I'm feeling so exhausted at the moment that I really wanted to rest this weekend...

Other things I thought it could be is constipation? Or perhaps SPD type pain as I have been getting this lately particularly at night when it hurts to get out of bed. If it were contractions it just seems strange its only at night and then goes!

What do you all think?

Anyone got any thoughts? I'm now thinking it might be more SPD based as am sore all around pelvis and back

I know it's pita but as you're pre-term I would go and get checked out.... Take food/drink supplies and a good book! Hope everything is ok.

Could it be braxton hicks? I went into labour the week I got pains similar to what you describe, I was also 36wks.

I've had that once when I was about 37 weeks. It felt like cramp you would get in your leg but all over my bump and it hurt like hell it lasted about an hour in the middle of the night and went away. I do think that as long as your not bleeding and baby is moving as normal things should be okay. I told my midwife she just said it could have been strong braxton hicks but I don't know if ive actually had them before. Maybe see if you get any more and take it from there?

Thanks all - pain seems to have settled and I'm more and more convinced it's actually SPD pain as that is getting worse....the joys eh!?
