Nursing chair

Was wondering if anyone would recommend a nursing chair or any other cheaper alternatives? I'm umming and ahhring about getting one and not sure if it's a waste of money?

I have a glider chair and I loved it, I wouldn't pay full price though. Mine was from eBay so its best to look on there, face book, gum tree etc. Just bear in mind how often you'll be using it- mine was up in our room for night feeds but I got reliant on it and couldn't get comfy to feed on the sofa so I'd be stuck upstairs on my own cluster feeding.

Lots of people use the poang chair. We have one and it has been a God send in the 3rd trimester, so comfy

Highly recommended glider chair. Didn't have one first time round and night time feeds not so good. Second time I got one. I would fall asleep in it feeding DC2 and everything went much more smoothly.

Excuse my ignorance, what's a poang chair? Thanks for your replies, nice to know you've got good use out of yours!

I refused to pay the extortionate £300 in the shops but got one 2nd hand for £25. No baby yet but its very comfy!

poang chair is a type of chair they sell in ikea- google it and it'll come up. They are very comfy and bounce a little (and kind go poang, like the name!).

I had a kiddicare glider chair - didn't admittedly get much use out of it in the beginning but was excellent for nighttime feeds and it's still in ds's room now at 20 months. Great for daytime stories or bedtime stories and milk. Really good investment.

I got a glider chair & foot stool off eBay & it was definitely money well spent. I've used it for all the night feeds & still sit in it every night for DS's bedtime bottle & story & can see us doing so for some time.

Have a glider chair and footstool from kiddicare, was a display one so didn't pay full price still on DD1's room 5 yrs later and will be using it for DD2 once she arrives definitely made night feeds easier and I felt a lot safer than doing it sat in bed in case I fell asleep.
Give eBay and other sites as mentioned above a try.

I didn't. Fed in bed when baby was small.

Does one fit in your bedroom. A chair in the baby's room is no good if the baby is with you.

Second the poang chair from Ikea. My DD is 5months now and it's been a great buy. Excellent value for money and not too bulky.

Controversial here: my gran bought me one and I think it's hopeless! Used it initially but then started feeding in bed for two reasons: baby feeding so much coming and going from nursery was just too much (staying in bed 100x easier!) and also baby quickly too long so couldn't get comfy without his wee legs hurting the arms. I guess I use it to sit on if we're playing in the nursery but can't read on it or anything. They're not for everyone so careful what you spend.

Sat very comfy in bed all cozy listening to LO and DH. Breathing in slumber. Much less lonely IMO

I have the Poang chair too but it's downstairs in the living room. For night feeds I just stay in bed.

I just fed in bed while DD was in our room, then put a big comfy armchair in her room when she moved. It's still there now for bedtime stories.

My dad has a poang chair in his living room, I don't much like it, if you're petite the arms are much too high to rest on comfortably and there's no room to put your feet up.

I don't have one yet but am planning to just get a normal comfy armchair and footstool

In no other stage in life would you buy purpose-specific furniture for something you'll most likely only do for 1 year. Just feed in bed or wherever you are at the time.

Never used one. Sat on the sofa to feed downstairs or in bed to feed upstairs.

That's made me think actually - we are just replacing our sofa and the old one is a corner one that splits into 3 pieces, might just put one of the pieces in the babies room, it's still really comfy!
