12 week scan

As you can tell I got my 12 weeks scan tomorrow and I'm really nervous. Can anyone give me any heads up on what will happen and all that.

I know its different in different areas. Some areas people see there midwife at 10 weeks and the 12 weeks scan is literally a scan but in my are our 12 week scan is ourbooking aappointment so at the start we had a 5-10 minute scan. Then went to midwife and got booked in. A lot of questions, past health parents health ext ect and then depending how it goes with midwife they may make you see the consultant which I had to. And of course they take bloods. But if you saw your midwife for book at 10-11 weeks then I would assume they scan you just x

I saw my MW at 9 weeksish had all the tests done stabbed and prodded haha. How long is the scan for?

From what I remember the scan didn't take long - about 10 min.
They measure the bean & check they are ok & possibly give you a different edd.
My advice is make sure you have a full bladder - makes picture clearer & take extra money/change as most hospitals charge you for copies of your scan

Definitely pop to the cash point ours have just gone up to £15 for photos!

My hospital had a machine to buy tokens which you had to pay for in pound coins. It did warn you about this on the letter though.

If I remember from when I went to my booking appointment it says £3 to copy it once then £10 for three copies and the machine doesn't give out change it comes out in tokens

Our scan photo is 2.50. Bargain! Got mine this afternoon, pretty overexcited. Hope it goes well for us both.

got mine this afternoon too! it's £5 for a token that gets you two scan photos, but from past pregnancies I know the sonographer will give us more.

I actually cried. I didn't have enough change (30p less) and she let me have two for free. I cried my eyes out when I saw the little heartbeat. Roll on 20 week scan when I can find out the sex.

Where I live, your scan and booking in appt are on the same day. And we need £5 in £1 coins for our pic!
