Haven't slept through the night in about 4 weeks and last night was just the worst! Didn't get home from work till 7.30 (after starting at 8) and wanted to have a good night's sleep as my best friend is coming to stay for the weekend. Last night I woke up about 3.15 and god knows when I got back to sleep. DH slept in the spare room last night as he had to get up for work early and didn't want to disturb me, but said best rang me at 8.30 and that was it, I was awake again. So know, on top of MS I have that wretched sickness that you get when you are just so exhauted.
Just wanted a good moan really, but anyone have any tips on how I can sleep better? I don't think that anything wakes me, but lately I've started thinking too much when I am awake and dreaming about work when I am asleep!

I know exactly how you are feeling, for the past five weeks I have had less than 3 hours sleep a night, sometimes none at all! If it helps any, I am 38+2 now and have had a decent sleep for the last two nights, so it might get better for you yet as well!!

When are you due?

bumperlicious · 17/11/2006 09:39

Not till June! I though my body would want to get all the sleep it can while it can! Nope, seems like it's preparing me very early on for what life will be like for the next 5 years or so!

Oh poor you, I remember how crappy the first few months are, at least you have the second trimester to look forward to, most people feel great then!!

Try to keep your strength up with lots of fresh fruit and veg (or chocolate, that usually helps )

If only I could face anything healthy I'm sure I would feel better, but mostly I am living on a diet of coco pops at the moment - not out of choice! I'm really worried as I have to go on a week long residential course next week, and I am so funny about food at the moment, and when I eventually identify what it is that I can eat (never the same thing - that would be too easy) I have like a 10 minute window in which to find and eat it before feeling sick. Don't know what it's going to be like staying in a hotel for a week!

Take lots of crackers with you, then you can just nibble on them as you need to.

Is the course for work? Do they know you are pregnant yet? If yes, then they will just have to let you get yourself sorted as and when you need to. Could be a bit trickier if no!

Yes it is for work. I'm just contemplating ringing the hotel to warn them as the whole week is taking place there. I'm they'll be like'so what?' but I just feel I need to warn them.
I know the organisers will be fine, but I don't want to have to make a fuss just coz I'm pg. The course will be really interesting and I was looking forward to it. I just want to be normal again! You you get to a point where you can remember a time when you slept properly or didn't spend the whole day fighting off nausea?!
Thanks for your help. I think I am going ot go armed with a carrier bag full of cereal bar etc!

I haven't been any help, it is just nice to be able to moan every now and then, or most of the time really!! LOL

You might even find you are feeling better by next week, I know it doesn't seem very far away, but it does all come and go so quickly in pregnancy.

And the only time you will ever go back to feeling reasonably 'normal' again, getting good rest, and eating fairly well, is in the second trimester really, after that you can't sleep because you are too big, you can't eat because your belly is being squashed, and then the baby arrives and there is obviously no sleep and food is the 'on the go' type, usually a good time is to eat an apple while you hoover, it is about the only chance you will get

It is all worth it though
