I had a Nuchal scan today

I wanted to let you all know that I had my private Nuchal scan today, and everything is looking good. The NT measurement was 1.4mm, and there is a nasal bone present, and other markers looked good too. I had a blood test today for biochemical markers, and when I get the results on Tuesday next week, they will give me a risk factor then. I am not worried to be honest, as the results from the scan are similar to DD's.
DD came in with me and DH. The look of amazement on her face when she saw the baby moving on the screen. She was asking the consultant lots of questions too. No, he couldn't tell her if it was a brother or sister yet, no, it didn't have hair and no, he couldn't say what colour the eyes were, but yes, that was it's heart DD could hear.

I expect it's more than that tbh.

"Fetal nuchal translucency thickness at the 11?13+6 weeks
scan has been combined with maternal age to provide an effective method of
screening for trisomy 21; for an invasive testing rate of 5%, about 75% of
trisomic pregnancies can be identified. When maternal serum free ß-human
chorionic gonadotropin and pregnancy-associated plasma protein-A at
11?13+6 weeks are also taken into account, the detection rate of chromosomal
defects is about 85?90%" (Source - see introduction page (it's a large, and rather detailed pdf from the Fetal Medicince Foundation).

I think that makes it approx 17% 'more accurate'.

I'm really pleased for you, GB. I'd been wondering how it's all going for you.

£190 at Leeds screening centre Trace. It is called an 'Addmark' and can be done up to 13+6 (mine was done at 13+2)
90% detection rate and 1% false positive rate.
