Maybe I'm just panicking.

Have had sore boobs and niggly aches in stomach for two days so I did a test today. It came up positive. I had a miscarriage in August and I'm scared it will happen again.
Haven't told DP yet as AF not due till Tuesday and if i lose it b4 then I'll never have to mention it.
We have been trying since the M/c but i don't want to build his hopes up too.
Has anyone else had a BFP b4 AF due and continued to have a normal pregnancy.

Haven't had an experience to tell you of, but wanted to say best of luck and an early congrats. Keep positive, is there a reason that anything should go wrong a second time?

ShowOfHands · 16/11/2006 18:23

Hi typhoonsmum.

Very many congratulations on your pregnancy.

I had a mc in July and went on to get another positive in September 6 days before af was due. I, like you, was terrified that something would go wrong and couldn't tell anybody. I am currently 14 weeks pregnant with a very happy and healthy little baby. Miscarriages are sadly very common and most people will go on to have an entirely normal subsequent pregnancy. Your body is already making enough HCG hormone to cause a positive test and just keep telling yourself that at this moment in time you are pregnant.

Wishing you lots of luck for a health pregnancy. Look after yourself and keep chatting on MN!

Just to keep you feeling positive, I found out I was pregnant at 9dpo which was 5 days before AF was due.

I am 39 weeks pregnant and waiting to give birth any day now.

I kept testing every day after getting my BFP to see that line getting stonger and stronger but I had loads of pg tests to use up.

Good luck and let us know how you get on xxxx

flopflip · 16/11/2006 18:57

It is very normal to get a positive 5 days before, and it does mean you are pregnant, congrats. It is very hard to think the pregnancy will be a success after an m/c but it does happen, so my best advice, enjoy !!!!

Congratulations! If it's any help, there was some research reported on the BBC news website a few months ago which suggested that the earlier an embryo implants, the less likely it is to miscarry. The researchers didn't really know why this happened, but had some hypotheses. Unfortunately, I can't remember what these were, but if you go the the BBC website and do a search you might be able to find the article.

Best of luck with your new preganancy. I've had two miscarriages but am now 31 weeks. I found it pretty nerve wracking in the begining, but the chances of it all going well are vastly higher than for it to go wrong. Fingers crossed for you.

I went through exactly the same, had a miscarriage in June, had 1 a/f then fell pregnant. I tested 5 days before my a/f was due () and it was positive....currently 16+5 days...

Best of luck to you!!!

I had a very faint line (a line is a line!!) 4 days before AF was due. DS is due in 3 weeks.

CorrieDale · 17/11/2006 17:24

Yep, got a BFP at day 25. DS is now 17 mo. The BFP for this pg was on day 22. We saw the baby's heartbeat at 6+3. I recommend you get an early scan - it can be very reassuring.

typhoonsmum · 17/11/2006 18:13

The early scans have picked up the m/c's b4 so I'm scared of them. Scared that this will go the same way. Felt sick this afternoon. I know it can't be morning sickness. Maybe I'm just panicking. making myself feel sick. The line is getting darker. Much darker than it should be this early I think. maybe I'm just using extra sensitive hospital test so the line will be darker.

Which tests are you using?

If those lines are getting darker and stronger then it is a sign that everything is working as it should.

Whenever I have heard of anyone having a BFP then AF, they have usually just got the one BFP then maybe took another test which shows a fainter line or got BFNs after that then AF.

Try to relax this weekend...easier said than done I know. Everything is looking good for you.

typhoonsmum · 18/11/2006 09:32

They are the hospital tests "Guest Medical" I work in gynaecology. Have done a CB digital as well. That was positive. Don't think I'll really believe it till AF doesn't arrive on Tuesday. Breast are getting more tender and the niggle isn't as often but still there.
The tests do seem to be getting stronger. Still VERY APPREHENSIVE!

I had a m/c and then waited 15mths to get a bfp. I also work in a hospital and couldn't tell you how many tests I did, and it took until I was about 5mths before i finally acknowledged that it was real. Good luck.

typhoonsmum · 18/11/2006 09:42

These tests have given BFP to 61 yr old ladies who had been thru the menopause. That is why I've done four different batches and a CB one. DOn't trust them.

I have always tested early and got bfp's 3 or 4 days before af was due. When it was 4 days, it was my twins, which was 4 months after I lost a tube from a ruptured ectopic. I had period pain the day I was due and felt sick from then too.

They are nearly 2 now, so all was well.

typhoonsmum · 18/11/2006 10:13

TWINS!

OMG I never thought of that. It would make sense. Why the tests are darker than normal.

malodorantemelly · 18/11/2006 10:17

LOL!!
Why don't you go for an early scan if you are worried. We did because of the ectopic, so at 5.5 weeks we found out it was 2, but were warned it was still early, so may change.

Actually the best thing may be to have blood tests, that shows better I believe that all is progressing as it should. My hcg levels were through the roof!!!!

typhoonsmum · 18/11/2006 16:50

Early scans have picked up m'c's. I'm scared of them. Scared of the "Maybe it was too soon" comments. Not going to the doctors till i'm six weeks ish. Not telling work till about the same time.
