Mattress & cover

I got a new mattress for my carrycot as per advice to have a new one per baby. The pram has been discontinued though so you can no longer buy the specific mattress that goes with it, but i got one with same dimensions. Its a good fit but the old one was slightly more rounded so there are v small gaps at the corners.
Is it ok to put the old mattress cover ontop of the new one for extra protection and to fill the little gaps? Or does the risk of 2nd hand mattresses include the covers?

Not sure if this is any use: babymattressesonline.co.uk/custom-made-mattresses

I think its just the mattress that needs replacing but just double check with MW when you see her maybe?

if the mattress cover is washable then yes fine to use it.
