Does backache at Week6 necessarily mean miscarriage?

I am nearly 6 weeks pregnant but am getting backache (a bit like those with a period) on and off, as well as occasional 'twinges' in the abdomen and am scared that these point to an imminent miscarriage. Has anyone experienced this but gone on to have a healthy baby?? I've got a 2 yr old and had a miscarriage in the Spring (at about 5 1/2 weeks, with period type pain, and some spotting) Thanks - experiences either way gratefully received.

I had really bad dull lower bachache - just as with a period - for a day or so at 5 weeks. I'm now 20 weeks and everything is fine.

yes..i have ..and had a healthy pregnancy...a lot of the early symptoms feel like you are coming on ..but in reality it is your body adjusting to being pregnant...hope all goes well for you....

Thank you both for your messages. I'd love to relax and enjoy it but I feel that if I start really believing that things might come out well I'll be tempting fate! You make me feel that much more confident that what I'm experiencing is positive rather than negative.

Yes - all sorts of twinges and pains. I had a healthy pregnancy then 2 miscarriages then a healthy pregnancy. I analysed everything in that last pregnancy but it all turned out fine.

Feeling rather ho hum about this - I've just starting spotting so I think that all the positive thinking in the world isn't going to help this have a happy outcome. Thanks for your stories though.

Aslarry - I hope it's not bad news. I'll have my fingers crossed for you too.

I had lots of period type pains in lower stomach and back when pregnant with my second, and some spotting.
Had a scan and everything was fine. Was told by hospital that pains are more common after you have already had a baby.
Fingers crossed for you X

Thanks so much, everyone. I'm undboubtedly a worrier and this is much heightened since having a miscarriage. I know that worrying won't help (and won't change anything - que sera, sera, etc) but it seems to be my default at the moment! So glad that things are going well for you Lupin71 and lazyemma.

Hm, especially if you have had Children before the ligaments etc...loosen earlier with the pg hormones being present....with my 3. I had a fair bit of achy backache early on and at the end! With es I had terrible sciatica pain...much worse!
Never exepreinced any painful cramps or backache with my m/c's...
