Hi,

I just need a little re assurance. Or at least a hug!
I'm in my early 20's and 17 weeks pregnant with our first child I've recently got my combined screening test back with a result that is just out of the NHS catchment 1:180.
Today I've decided to go for a harmony test it wouldn't make a difference to my decision as I'm having this child regardless however it would better prepar me for what might lie ahead.
Has anyone else has this test done and can they share their experiences of what happened? Do I get to see the screen as they scan like my 12 week scan? Or is it all private?

They'll do a scan and they'll take a blood sample. The blood is processed to extract and amplify the free foetal DNA that is in it (still blows my mind how they can do this, and I used to be a research geneticist...)

They will then be able to look at the foetal DNA to assess your risk of the various trisomies.

The nuchal fold/bloods test you got the 1:80 at - that figure was derived from indirect measurements - the nuchal fold and various blood levels of markers, the DNA test is direct.

Good luck. I had the panorama and it was money well spent! It takes a few weeks to come back.

Hi everyone,

I had the test this morning. I was able to see the baby moving around saw the fingers ribs head nose and 4 chambers of the heart also saw the umbilical cord and he showed me the blow flowing through. All looked ok on the scan and he's 80% sure it's a girl but will know when I get the bloods back. I am in a much happier place but still need to wait on the results to relax fully.
I am hoping it was the fact my scanner was a trainee and as my baby was stubborn and was upside down at the time of the scan she may of measured the fold wrong....
Hopefully if the scans ok then the blood will be good too. I'll keep you updated x
