Has anyone continued with weight training - specifically Body Pump - throughout pregnancy and, if so, for how long?

The Les Mills website says it's fine, but then they're not exactly an impartial source!

In my first pregnancy I did cardio, but no weights. Would like to continue toning this time, really.

I asked my do this as he's a gym instructor and I'm currently pregnant (5 weeks).
He told me that yes, it was fine to continue with your regular exercise, even weights, until your body tells you differently.
Obviously now isn't the time to increase your weight stacks and try and break records, but as long as you perform the exercises correctly, you'll be fine.

Me, I've already had to drop my bootcamp class as the million burpees and sit ups/leg raises are playing havoc with my lower back at this early stage. I may go back to it in a few weeks or I may simply up the spin classes as a replacement.

that's me, teaching it a couple of days ago, 36 weeks pregnant. All fine.

It's fine. Be aware that you need to take care to not dehydrate or overheat, so plenty of water and good ventilation.

Also be aware that your ligaments may be looser, thus slightly increasing your risk of injury - good form is very important.

Listen to your body, don't overdo it, keep movements controlled.

I'm 16weeks and doing body pump and body balance twice a week. I'm finding it harder, but just listening to my body, taking pregnancy options as needed. Up until she gave birth two weeks ago my friend was also doing both!

Here's a brochure for Bodypump in pregnancy, gives you different options for exercises.

Brilliant, thanks so much! Am nicely reassured now that it's ok to carry on.
