My wife is due today, she had a sweep on Tues and got told she is 1-2cm dilated and the midwife could feel babies head. just wondering how long overdue they let you go?? As my mum said she was talking to a woman in sainsburys today with a new born that said she was 6 weeks over due!!! surly not!??!

Generally 10-12 days is the latest before they start the induction process but there is still plently of time for things to happen on there own.
I think it's only about 4% of babies that are actually born on the due date as the date is really only a best guess and can really be a week or so either side.
Usually if it's the first baby they usually go later rather than early or on the due date.
Sounds like things are moving in the right direction though, all the best.

No, they wouldn't let a woman go six weeks over. Maybe newborn baby brain made her say it wrong. Generally it's between 10-14 days dependent on which NHS trust. Some women can go a little over that with daily scans and monitoring but not six weeks.

Hope your wife isn't waiting too long. I had my sweep on the Wednesday and went into labour Sunday night, she was born five days overdue :)
