What to eat in early pregnancy?

I'm 4w6d and just starting to feel all kinds of queasy in the afternoons. (Morning sickness? Ha! Morning's about the only time of day I feel human.) This isn't helped by the fact that I work in a really hot office and so also feel extra stuffy on top of that.

I'm finding most foods I try leave me feeling even more queasy; but then not eating much during the day is all kinds of not good.

What can I eat/drink that won't leave me feeling like I want to throw up, and will stave off hunger? We do have fridge and microwave available; so I'm thinking of salads or soups for lunch. Mostly need snack ideas for mid-morning and mid-afternoon.

I had big plans to only eat healthy, fresh fruit, veggies, all the pregnancy superfood.
Turned out I frkt so nauseus all day that I survuved mostly on Jacobs cream crackers, carrot sticks and Smiths chip sticks! Not greatly nutriticiously balanced but at least I stomached something.
It's very important to stay hydrated, so try to keep your fluids up. And taking your prenatal vitamin will help you get the right vitamins even if you're struggling to get the right food in.

Hey Cat! good to see you on the other side!

All thoughts of healthy food went completely out the window this morning as I had pain au chocolat to kick the day off. A treat; definitely not a normal occurrance.

I have ginger biscuits, S&V crisps, apple crisps (shop bought to avoid further kitchen accidents) and some breakfast bars with me today, so should be able to graze through to half 5.

Hydration is definitely covered - even if I wasn't consciously trying to drink 2-3l water per day, I'm noticing that I'm more thirsty than I was before. And as for those vitamins, well they were clearly made for horses, not humans - they're huge! But yes; am taking one a day which makes me feel a bit better about all the carbs.

Hi,

I've been mainly surviving on digestive biscuits and I literally think about food the whole day. Had crumpets for breakfast today and have got mac'n'cheese for lunch, carb overload!

I agree about the size of the vitimins, they are huge!

Ha ha my healthy diet is definitely out of the window. Thank heavens for tomatoes - they seem to be the only veg I can eat at the moment.

Someone said watermelon - I had some tonight and it was amazing.

Finding it difficult to get much water down at the moment, so glad I stocked up on ice lollies, they're much easier to get down.

I couldn't face the horse vitamins this morning, so switched to folic acid only tabs, about a twentieth of the size. Still a struggle but it went down and stayed down.

karou you may find in a few weeks that there are times that a pain au chocolat is the only thing you can stomach, but so long as we're getting some food in, I think that's the main thing.
