After birth, how many equivalent weeks pregnant did you look/feel?

Bit of a "how long is a piece of string" question. But in the immediate aftermath of giving birth, how many weeks pregnant would you say you looked? And by immediately after I probably mean by the time you were getting dressed. Rather than in pyjamas. I promise this isn't a vanity question, but a practical clothing one! Also just curious though, as I can't work out how much will disappear along with baby Waters placenta etc.

This is fresh in my mind from a few days ago - I would say 7-8 months pregnant .

About 5 months pregnant but with the texture of a deflated balloon not a smooth bump.

Probably about 4 or 5 months and god was it all saggy, I told my DSis I looked 'like Bagpuss'. But yes, long as a piece of string.

As a guide, I think I stayed in maternity trousers for 4-6 weeks or so after the birth and then I went back to my pre-preg trousers, but couldn't button them up, so had to use the old hair-tie trick. I think I also bought a few pairs of trousers in a size up than usual right after the birth as I was so sick of maternity clothes and also we were moving into a new season/ different weather.

I'm not sure - 12 weeks, maybe? Bit of tummy but my bump disappeared straight away really.

I was back in my pre-pregnancy jeans at 2 weeks postpartum. I'm now at 3 weeks and really close to pre-pregnancy weight. I was 9st 3 then, around 9st 7 now. End of pregnancy was about 10st 10.

But everyone is different, so it's impossible to know! I've heard people say they wore maternity jeans after birth but mine would've just fallen down!

I can't remember tummy-wise but I do remember the water retention (and the saline drip I'd been on) meant that my feet were so swollen I could barely get my slip on skate shoe type trainer things on. I felt like a non-purple Violet Beauregarde. Next time I'm taking flip flops!

I was very very very lucky with my first two and waltzed out of hospital in my size ten skinny jeans. this time I am bigger and I am taking size 16 jeggings and a pair of maternity jeans in my bag just in case the jeggings don't go I put on a lot of weight after DD was born due to mobility issues. by the time I was losing the weight I was pregnant again!

I didn't look pregnant at all after birth. I had a bit of a protruding tummy but it was boggy and soft-it didn't look like a baby bump at all. I was back in normal clothes within a week or two.

None really! Belly was a bit saggy but bump disappeared straight away. I didn't feel pregnant at all thank god

Hmm I've just bought so few pairs of maternity trousers, and not a single skirt or pair of shorts etc. Baby due end of July, when even though I'm in Scotland it might be warm . I am wearing one pair of trousers to work all week, a pair of jeans all weekend, and then PJ/yoga pant type things the rest of the time.

At 4-5 months I hardly had any bump at all so I can't imagine I'll be that lucky! But even at nearly 34 weeks I'm not huge so I guess I can hope. It doesn't however sound completely off to think I'd be back to this size quite quickly, so I should just about manage with what I have (basically trying to make as much non-maternity stuff wearable as possible!)

And of course I might not get changed out of PJs much at first!

Oh loads of cross posts, and plenty at the lucky end of the scale :). As someone said upthread, I am a bit worried that if I only have my maternity jeans to travel home in, they might fall off. Even now I am constantly having to haul them up.

After giving birth, about the same and the deflation sensation is so weird! I got really swollen too and couldn't get my maternity jeans on at all, so I was actually bigger
But then I was back in normal clothes 2 weeks later after thinking it might take months

I keep having to do month to week conversions! Have spent my whole pregnancy obsessing about each week, I'm not even sure how many months I am well ok I'm probably in denial as I'm 7 1/2 months

Ds1, I didn't. I was wearing my pre-pg clothes. I had mastitis at 2 weeks and had a Sat morning (sit and wait) appt at the doctors, was sitting near to someone who was clearly pg, and I was just about to ask when she was due when she mentioned her dd who was the same age as my ds. I honestly couldn't believe it, I had no idea that you didn't just go back to normal straight away.

Ds2, probably about 4 months? Wasn't expecting that!

Looked probably about 5 months for the first week however I found hold me in pants really comfy as I preferred to feel held in. 2 days after having our ds I went shopping and got some jeans that were a size up from my normal ones which I wore for a couple of months. After giving birth however I felt brilliant such a relief not to be pregnant.

The next day, followed by a week later in the pics (I'm also 22lb down in the 1 week later one). Now 8 weeks pp and I still have a stone to lose and I just look a bit flabby rather than pregnant

I kind of swelled up all over for abou a week and was actually bigger than when pregnant - just with saggy flab instead of a bump

Maternity trousers didn't fit - leggings or maxi dresses are your friends

I looked about 5 months pregnant for me, but I was never very big. I was only asked for the first time when I was due 3 weeks before he was born, didn't really have much of a bump or obvious roundness until 30+ weeks. I put on 3 stone but about 2 of that was fluid which was gone by the time baby was 2 weeks old, I was 6lbs over my original weight then and I still am now with baby 10 weeks old. I was back in my old jeans with bobble on the button 2 weeks ago, I could close them but because I had a c section my stomach was tender. Now I'm back in my old jeans perfectly, tiny bit loose around my middle still but need exercise to fix that!

Thanks everyone, a real variety but it's certainly giving me a rough idea. Letmeeatcake pictures, brilliant! And you don't look flabby in those at all, you look amazing. :)
