relax, I had this with both my pregnancies....not sure what you mean by a 'bruise', but if they saw a bit of blood in your uterus, it makes sense that its coming out.

I had brown/pink spotting for days on end, and a few episodes of bright red gushes (tablespoonful, maximum) at 6 and 10 weeks with dd1, and at 4, 6 and 8 weeks this time. Its scary, and the only true reassurance was scans - but its also very very common (25% of women bleed or spot during first trimester) so take heart: you've seen a heartbeat, which is a great sign!

If you can, take it easy whilst bleeding - it probably doesn't make any difference, but it does make you feel you've done all you can, at least it did me.

I am 12 weeks and at 7 weeks I was diagnosed with a subchoronic hemorrhage and a fibroid. Both can cause bleeding. At 12 weeks the hemorrhage as corrected itself, as in not showing up, and the fibroid is now extrememly small.
Take it easy because rest will let the hemorrhage heal itself. The tech at the ultrasound also said that avoid a lot of abdominal work. She said "You need to baby, your babie's house".
The bleeding won't affect the baby, but do you know if you are rh -? If you are let your practitioner know because you may need to get a rhogam shot. I am rh- and was told that if I ever bled I would need to go in for a shot.
