Must admit i've eaten more so shouldn't be surprised but i definitely have a bump although partly food but its hard and i definitely think i'm showing earlier this time round but if i cut back and start eating healthily everyone tells me i shouldn't diet and tries to fatten me up but its not dieting its healthy eating!!

My husband brings me home chocolate everyday and turned up yesterday with a whole chocolate cake that his mother had made for me as he said i liked chocolate?!! Trying to fill my fridge with fruit and lean meat etc but have to move the cake out of the way to get to it!!

Anyone else piling on the pounds early?

Don't get on the scales I'm 11 weeks pregnant and have not been on the scales since my midwife appointment with ds1 at 12 weeks over 3 years ago.

I did lose most of my baby weight before I got pregnant again (going by clothes)but don't worry about it. Just start watching what you eat once you've had the baby.

I can't stop eating chips - normally never eat the things! Sweets, Oasis/Ribena type drinks, crisps its awful! I think they will probably weigh me in a couple of weeks, I'm going to have to shut my eyes.

if it's any help I lost a pound a week for 20 weeks breastfeeding and meanwhile ds grew at what felt like a similar rate...just as I was starting to think I would be consumed completely the weight loss just seemed to stop, not for any particular reason (hadn't started weaning). Am now pg again (17 weeks) and I think about 12 pounds heavier. Last time baby decreed nil by mouth til lunchtime but this ones just been incredibly fussy - cheese and tomato sandwiches only for a month

Oh thank god other people gained weight fast too! I'm 18 weeks and have already gained 18lbs- and I was overweight to start with. In mitigation I did give up the fags & coffee which probably didnt help. And no morning sickness either... which I really hoped for- my best mates pg too and she actually lost weight in 1st tri. Huh.

I keep seeing lovely skinny girls on the tube etc with slim arms and nice bump- whereas I just look fat - well, clearly pregnant- but with arms like thighs. And my legs rub together which I HATE.

macneil- your post on clingy clothes made me LOL in the silent office! Its true, why all this thin jersey stuff? And where are the tops that fit nicely over the bust (only part I like at mo)and then flow out? All I can find are hideous stretch things that show my back flab and chunky arms.

I feel really shallow in worrying about my weight but I did like looking nice. I miss fashion. Now I look like a fat frump.

Careful what you wish for glitterkitty! MS is one of the most horrible things ever.

I had hyperemesis in my first trimester and gained 8lbs anyway.

I'm still being sick at nearly 26 weeks, and have gained 2 and a half stone.

Worst of both worlds.

macneil · 24/11/2006 17:24

glitterkitty: I got chubby first, then the weight seemed to suck into the bump a lot more. You will look like the shapely women with the bump! But when it happens, it doesn't seem as nice as it does on other women. I never in my life thought pregnant women looked fat, I always thought they were a lovely shape, but it's all different when it's your own bump. Actually, having said that, my dick of a husband feels the same as me. He said I looked like Shrek the other day, 'you know, the way Shrek's beer-gut sticks out under his armour?'. But it serves me right because last year I said a pregnant friend of ours looked like Mrs Shrek because pregnancy had made her nose spread. The evil get their comeuppance.

Ditto on the MS not making you thin. I lost about 10 pounds in the first 3-4 weeks of it, and then I realised that the only thing that stopped me puking was eating breadsticks non stop. Have also had hyperemesis but became so phobic of throwing up horrible food that I managed to work out a system that gave me windows of eating and digesting so much of the puking has been delightful calorie free retching.

Lolabelle,

I have piled on the pounds already too I have put on 8lbs and I'm only 9 weeks! I was over weight to start with and had been on slimming world and lost 1 1/2 stone and was feeling pretty good! But my stomach seems to have ballooned!

I know some of it is a reaction to my all of a sudden stopping the diet as I couldn't face the thought of quorn sausages, cottage cheese, virtually fat free fromage frais etc..but some of it is the bisuits, sugar in tea etc.

It is distressing as I didn't put on a pound until about 15 weeks last time!

I keep having low energy spells where I feel light headed and shaky - of course sugary things are what I have been reaching for! I am trying to stop this and eat porridge in the morning and snack on oat cakes/ bananas/ dried fruit etc if feeling rough

Almost dont want to weigh myself at all cant bear the upset and guilt of piling it on.

Lolabelle · 26/11/2006 13:14

17 pounds at 16 weeks so slowing down a fraction but trying not to care, went to a [arty last night and ate plenty of the buffet without worrying as my bump is so pronounced which has made a nice change from nibbling a bit here and there so as to not cause mass bloating - i think i was one of the few ladies going for it and everyone still said how well i looked depsite my lard arse!!

Starting to relax a bit now but i still wantto try and fit back into my old wardrobe again one day!! Enjoying having boobs though...

Lb,

Yep, show off that cleavage and make the most of it!!

Glad to hear the weight is slowing down for you, it gives me hope, though with christmas coming..... mm trifle, chocs, cheese and crackers but unlike usual barely any wine (will have a couple) which will hopefully make up for extra calories! Have not dared weigh myself for a few days... have dug out my hideous maternity wardrobe and feel very sad it all looks so drab.... appears to be alot of black, black and black as I was working last time..

A few weeks back I before I realised was prg was planning fab monsoon outfit from DH for christmas (definately not black) now feel very and of anyone I know planning new clothes.....

Having said that all being well this time next year there will be two little people to enjoy christmas with next year

Lolabelle · 27/11/2006 14:46

True it is worth it in the end! I am dying to partake in some xmas clothes shopping but keep reminding myself that its only another 5 months so it'll be a waste but bought a spangly top/tent from topshop maternity to feel festive and will wear it at xmas regardless of how it looks as it feels xmassy!

Xmas at my parents is one long feast, it doesn't stop unless me go to bed and starts again hext day so i'm thinking its best to avoid the scales for a while! Actually getting excited about mince pies just thinking about them and don't get me started on the abundance of chocolate!! At least we don't have to worry about disguising the exta pounds through pregnancy!!
