Private SW London early pregnancy recommendations

Hi everyone-

I'm currently in the early stages of pregnancy and so far booked in to see Dr Karl Murphey as a private OB. I've just had a dating scan that has had some discrepancy in dates and now being told I have a high risk of miscarriage. There is a lot of confusion as I know I ovulate late and also pretty much know exactly when I conceived, so the scan could be spot on and it's just too early for a heartbeat or it is a miscarriage and baby stopped growing. I am
feeling a bit left in the lurch because apparently Dr Murphey doesn't handle early pregnancy issues because he's not an OB/GYN, only an OB..... I didn't realize this would be an issue as I was already 26 weeks pregnant when we moved to the UK for my last pregnancy.

I do understand that in regards to a heartbeat I have to wait for another scan but I would still like some support, guidance and advice during this time, we have a history of loss and my husband is currently overseas saying goodbye to his father so it's all pretty cr*p right now!

I would love some recommendations for either a GYN or OB/GYN that handles early pregnancy issues in SW London. Going to Parkside in Wimbledon would be most convenient with having a toddler and being on my own but also interested in recommendations for the Well Woman clinic on Fulham rd. Or anywhere else convenient to SW18

I am also now considering just switching overall to an OB/GYN down this way and going to Chelsea-Westminster for the rest of this pregnancy or if miscarrying, care for all of next as the whole point of going privately for me was so that I had comprehensive continuity of care the whole pregnancy.

Any advice and recommendations greatly appreciated!

Highly recommend Women's Wellness Centre - the one you've mentioned on Fulham Road. Very caring and professional, and the lead consultant is well regarded (Dr Ayida).

Just her and one of the sonographers, Shrada (last name escapes me). I would guess the whole team there is pretty good though. It is really one of the best experiences I've had with a medical clinic and they are so understanding and kind. Had I not left the UK shortly after getting pregnant I'd have stayed with them throughout the pregnancy for sure.

Another random question, did she had an actual ultrasound machine in her personal off? Because of my history it's a great peace of mind if the OB checks me with a scan at every appt rather than only having the big scans.

Yes they have an ultrasound in the office itself, I only had an intravaginal scan (TMI oops) but they also do the normal external scanning onsite.

Keith Duncan will do all your scans and OB care if that's what you are after. He is also at WWC. It's very convenient, and he is very experienced, but personally I have chosen a different OB who is outside the centre and had scans at FMC Harley Street this time, which has worked very well. You won't get continuity of sonographer but they really are at the cutting edge of scan technology and testing. I live close by to you, and it's actually pretty quick to get there.

Thanks Roseta, I haven't made any decisions yet and the scans for my last pregnancy were at FMC as well, although we did live closer then. I'm not too bothered by the distance and do think it's easy enough getting there, it's more just our current situation, expat in a country with no close friends or family with a toddler and a husband currently overseas that makes me think having care closer to home may be easier. This past dating scan was at the GYN ultrasound center just above FMC. I'm sure if I'm able to work out care for DS when I have appts I may be less daunted by traveling up to Harley street and Great Portland but this last scan ran an hour late with a toddler well and truly over it and then receiving bad news, so pretty stressful. I would ideally stay with Dr Murphey as well but this whole thing of having to find another Dr if I am having a miscarriage is putting me off him a bit! But he's fab in regards to specializing in fetal medicine.

I'm happy for the 'big' scans (12, 20 and fetal well-being) to be up at the FMC but for my peace of mind I also prefer an OB that has a machine in their actual consult room and willing to check all is ok at my routine appts.

So far I think I'm going to reschedule this next scan for slightly later to give more time to see if there will be a heartbeat.

Hi ladies, just had my second scan and it's confirmed that it's a miscarriage. I am about to google the doctors that have been recommended so far but thought if check again for specific referrals on a GYN that handles miscarriages.
