Due dates changed

Hi
I thought I was 12 weeks and 4 days due to the first date of my last period being 15 March. My doctor told me my due date would be 21 December.

I had my first scan today and they told me the baby looked 13 weeks exactly and that my due date is 17 December.

Also the baby wouldn't stay still so the lady told me to shake my belly a bit but it just made the baby lie on its front the upside down again.

I'm just wondering if this is normal and if anyone else has gone through this?

Thanks.

I had this with both of mine, its only a few days nothing to worry about :)

Perfectly normal.

Yes I was 12+4 when I went for my scan but they moved it to 13wks at the scan because of the baby's size. Totally normal! I think most people get moved by a day or two.

fanjodisfunction · 11/06/2015 21:50

yep totally normal, my was changed a couple of times. it's all to do with the growth of the baby.

SweetAndFullOfGrace · 11/06/2015 21:53

It's only a 4 day move so pretty normal.

The reason is that the LMP dating assumes you ovulate 14 days before your period arrives, and the older calculators (like the little cardboard ones) assume that your cycle is 28 days.

If ovulation timing and/or cycle time are different to 14/28 then LMP dates can be out by a bit.

Scan dates can be out by a bit too, it's not a perfectly precise process, but they're more accurate than LMP.

My due date was increased by 9 days and DD was 3 days late on top of that. Don't overthink your due date as baby will come when he/she feels like it anyway! Congratulations on your pregnancy Thanks

sianihedgehog · 11/06/2015 22:32

Absolutely normal. My due date has so far been the 17th, 14th, 7th, and 9th of August!

MissTwister · 11/06/2015 22:35

I got moved 4 days earlier - totally normal. Baby also was a massive wriggler at scan!

batfish · 12/06/2015 08:13

Yes my due date at 2 early scans was 9th October and then moved to 4th October. I actually don't think the second date is correct but it seems to be what we're going with! I think it is pretty normal for dates to change.

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 12/06/2015 08:18

Yes, both pregnancies my due dates were brought forward, one by 4 days and one by 5.
First day of last period is only a guide, it all depends on cycle length, how long implantation takes etc. The 12 week scan is more accurate at dating a pregnancy.

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 12/06/2015 08:20

And it's also very normal for the baby not to be in the best position, it has happened at every single scan I've had! I've done star jumps in corridors and been to the shop next door for a cold fizzy drink in an attempt to get baby to move before!

applecore0317 · 12/06/2015 08:35

I was also dated four days ahead because of measurements.

She was a wriggler in the 12 week scan, a wriggler throughout the pregnancy and still a wriggler now she is here Smile
