Hi all, just need a bit of advice please... Been feeling a bit under the weather so going to treat myself to some beauty treatments! Is it safe to get HD brows done whilst pregnant and have my hair dyed?! Grinð??¬

Yes

Chchchchangeabout · 10/06/2015 19:52

I would after the first trimester

ThePinkParker · 10/06/2015 20:14

I'm 27 weeks & have just come hope from the hairdresser. Full head of highlights. Go for it! The only thing I'm not getting is acrylic nails in case of early labour but that's probably me being OTT anyway.

Snowflake15 · 10/06/2015 21:14

Acrylic nails and early labour? Never heard that one

Runningupthathill82 · 10/06/2015 21:54

I'm thinking either because you can't do anything with acrylic nails (or I can't anyway)... so not practical if baby comes early??

Or if an EMCS was needed they'd want acrylics off to monitor O2 saturation? But toes/ear pleth could be used? I'm so Confused

Penguinandminipenguin · 10/06/2015 22:24

I'm wondering about the acrylic nails comment too!

bittapitta · 10/06/2015 22:26

ifyou had it - they take off nails/nail varnish (from one nail!) for operations. Nothing to do with nails bringing on labour!

Snowflake15 · 11/06/2015 08:57

IfYou I think you're right it's in case baby comes early she doesn't want to have acrylics on (imagine dealing with a pooey nappy with long acrylics eugh!)

LumpyCustard69 · 11/06/2015 13:25

The nail thing.................Is it not because if you need any anaesthetic they need to check the blood flow to your extremities etc?
I remember I had to remove all nail varnish for labour, and when I have had any operations in the past.

lauraa4 · 11/06/2015 13:39

They advise not to have acrylics on if you are booked in for CS or incase you have an EMCS but they are certainly not going to send you away until they are removed Grin. As long as your toenails are not painted or have acrylics on it should be fine.

From a practical point of view after you've had the baby they are probably not the best thing, well not long ones anyway but it's entirely your choice.

ThePinkParker · 11/06/2015 19:15

Oh I'm laughing so much at how I confused everyone! Yes I just meant in case of surgery, etc - not that it brings on early labour.
Grin
