Breech baby at 31 weeks

Hi ladies

I had my 31 week midwife appointment yesterday and midwife said the baby was now in a breech position.

I didn't think much of it until I came into work this morning and the women started scaring me saying I would end up having a c-section etc

Just don't know what to think now :/

31 weeks is still plenty of time for baby to turn, and the vast majority do. No need to panic. :)

Me too - I'm 32 + 4 now. I think baby tried to turn last night, i was in bed on my left side, rolled over onto back and was going to go onto right side when i noticed my bump was very lop sided! It was quite uncomfortable for a while. I got up and went to look and then laid back down. Think it went back to the usual position but fx it will try again and I won't disturb it!

You can of course try to have it turned, but please read up on it beforehand. I have decided i would rather a c section than that.

I am sure our babies will turn at some point Nottalotta- and the c section will be the last resort if not ;(

I'm almost 38 weeks and baby moved from head down to transverse and breech a few weeks ago and now is in an 'unstable lie' which is basically him still moving freely. Scan tomorrow. Everyone says he will move. My first born as transverse and did move to head down at around 36 weeks so still time.

As said above it can change at any point right up to the day, a friend was due a c-section due to being breech, checked a few days before by scan to confirm but then on the day of the op they double checked and the baby had turned head down so it was cancelled and she went on to have a natural birth a few weeks later.

I was breech at the last check at 28 wks, next app in a weeks time at 34 wks (due to being DC2 they skip the 31wk check) so will see then where she is now as I really haven't a clue what's head and what's bum!

I'm 33 weeks and baby was breech until the weekend just gone so you have lots of time for baby to change

Mine is currently transverse, midwife says they don't even care till 36 weeks as still plenty of time to move....

Mine was head down at40 weeks and breed at 41.....

I moved from breech to normal 2 days before I arrived at 42 weeks.

Aw thanks for the reassurace ladies I am sure it will work out..the baby will do what feels right I guess!

Mine was too and he turned around a week ago. baby has plenty of time to turn around and probably will. You can get on all fours and rock back and forth to encourage a different position.

I don't think you can even call it breech when there are weeks left to be able to turn. Doesn't make sense. What does it matter what way its up right now?

Bizarre! At 28 weeks its nonsensical. Bit overzealous perhaps? I wouldn't worry about it anyway.

My baby has been resolutely breech with legs extended since 25 weeks-I've been having weekly growth scans since then- and at yesterday's scan she was head down. I'm 35 weeks so hoping she stays that way. I felt it happen whilst I was walking, a massive shift in bump that made me feel a bit funny followed by a desperate need for a wee. Needed to go the the loo much more since but I can breathe again! As pp have said there's still loads of time for turning.

Yes Winter a few people have said the same thing to me!
At this stage its just the baby moving positions etc and makes no difference to the labour as too far away!

the position of my last baby was always recorded if they knew in my notes. it's way to early for it to be a worry.
