How many nappies do I need???

I'm a first time mum to be. Will be placing a order for baby nappies.

I'm thinking to get Pampers New Baby Size 1 jumbo box from Asda 2 for £20. (144 nappies total)

Does anyone know how long size 1 last for? And how many I will initially need?

Don't want to get to many.

Totally depends on size of baby really I guess but my 8lb8 probably went through two boxes of size one before I moved him into size 2.. They need changing a lot in the first few weeks!

It depends on the size of baby when it's born. I have got about 100 but have bought 4 different brands in case some don't suit. No point in buying too many in advance and wasting money imho.

Not long at all. My DS was premature, so on the small size and he raced through size 1 and 2. He was in 3 a few months and 4 for ages.

my ds, 8lb 11, was in size 1 for the first month. He got through up to 8-9 a day at first (pfb ). We've taken unopened packs back to the supermarket and swapped them for the size up.

Don't stock up on loads of nappies. Every baby is a different shape and size and won't suit every brand; they may get nappy rash from some brands and not others. It's a bit trial and error, but it would be a shame to end up with lots you don't need.

I can't honestly remember in the haze of newborn baby but bear in mind newborns easily go through 10 nappies a day!
Just dug out our red book and DS was 8lb 2oz at birth and 10 lb at 4 weeks old. They're all different though of course but I'm sure he was in size 1 for at least the first 3/4 weeks.

And agree don't buy loads and loads...
Buy a couple of packs in a few sizes. You will need larger sizes eventually anyway and if you realise youve ran out of the size you're using you can make do with a larger size while you dash out to the shops for the size you need.

Agree about not stocking up as every brand except Boots own gave my daughter horrendous nappy rash and we had to resort to cloth in the end as they're not great tbh.

I think that's the perfect number of nappies to have in. Also agree with boots own nappies being brilliant

I've bought 1 pkt pampers newborn, 2 aldi size 1 and 1 boots size 1.....then I've bought 3 aldi size 2 (they are so cheap and have brill reviews) 1 pampers size 2 and 1 boots size 2-all just the regular packs. We've a nappy mountain ha ha. But I figure as I'm expecting at least an 8lb baby (3dc and all big) if need be they could go straight into size 2. Was going to get asda ones too but have heard mixed reviews so hoping aldis are as good as I've heard as 2dds didn't take to pampers and I used Huggies (6years ago)

I agree not to buy that amount of one type of nappy. Pampers were terrible on dd. Boots were very good as were aldi. Asda own were better than pampers

The shops will still be open after your baby is born.... And they deliver! I mostly used cloth, but got disposables for nights and holidays delivered from Amazon and Kiddicare.

We got probably 100 odd nappies, but we got a pack of loads of different brands and own brands!

Both of my children must have weird bums because only asda little angels don't leak, we found pampers to smell really chemically when they had wee in them.

Buy a selection and then see which you prefer?

I bought one pack of new born pampers, but we live close to lots of supermarkets, if I lived rurally I would stock up more.
